Chapter 2: How did Dan meet Becca and what was their first date like?
What I would do if I didn't feel like I was being accepted is choose an identity that other people can't have. I knew something had happened to me in the middle of the night, but I couldn't hold on to what had happened.

They say finding love is like finding Wi-Fi in the desert.
It's rare.
It's impossible. It's miraculous.
Yes.
It's slightly alarming when it actually happens to you. And right now, our listener, Dan, is out in the dating desert, wandering around, holding his phone up in the air, trying to get one bar of love to pop up.
I got one.
Oh, there it goes. Let's see if we can try and help strengthen that signal today with this second date update. Dan, welcome to the show. Hey, guys. Thanks for taking my call. Man. Yeah, we're worried about you out there.

Chapter 4: What was Dan's scary story that caused him to freeze?
You need some water? How are you doing? I'm okay right now. Okay. All right. You must be feeling okay because apparently a woman has wandered into your desert of dating. Are you sure it's not a mirage?
Oh, yeah.
Could be. What's this girl's name? Her name's Becca. Becca? Okay. How did you meet Becca? So we were at a friend's mutual gathering. Like, it wasn't anything crazy. It was just like a bonfire. Oh, fun. Nice. That's cool.
Chapter 5: How did Becca react to Dan's smoke detector story?
Yeah, so we ended up kind of sitting next to each other, so we ended up chatting. Okay. You know, your producer asked me, like, what stuck out about her. But what is stuck up about her? That's also an important question. Maybe that's what it is. That's why she's not calling me back. Yeah. She doesn't need anything that costs less than $50. Totally. So what did you like about her?
Well, so first of all, like, the first thing I noticed was she was wearing these, like, old Converse shoes with, like, doodles on them. Oh. So just real relaxed. I didn't feel like she was trying too hard. She had a killer smile as well. So I was like, man, this is, like, right up my alley. That's cute. And the scene's kind of set for you. You're at a bonfire, you know.
Chapter 6: What clues suggest Becca might be avoiding Dan?
Everybody looks good under bonfire light. That's a good point. It's better lighting. Darker, but, like, enough to see. Yeah. Right. So we ended up chatting there. And then as the night was kind of getting done, I had asked her if she was hungry, if she wanted to go out to eat. And so we went out to, like, a little Mexican place. Oh. And it was just you and her that went to the Mexican restaurant?
Yeah, it was just the two of us. So, you know, it was a real solid night. And then it kind of cooled down. So I had given her my jacket, and I had walked her back to her car. And I told her, I said, you know, just hang on to the jacket. You know, give it to me next time.
Wow.
Was that like a little plan for you to have it in? It was a little move.
Chapter 7: What unexpected discovery did Becca make about Dan?
Okay.
How did she react to you walking her to her car and giving her the jacket? Was she like, oh, thank you, or was it like... Ew, no. I don't want this. No, I mean, it seemed like polite, and it seemed like she was down for it. Good, okay. But I will say, leaving something behind, oldest trick in the book when it comes to ladies. We know that play.
Well, she definitely knew it because she took the jacket to my buddy's place and dropped it off with him. She's head of the game. Head of the game. Or is she really sweet and is just like, oh, make sure you give this back to your friend? No. She's not. Because if you wanted to see him again, you'd be like, sweet. Yeah. Now I have a reason to contact him. Yeah.
Yeah.
So I'm just wondering, you know, what's up?

Chapter 8: Will Becca agree to go on another date with Dan?
What's the reason that I feel like I'm getting ghosted now? I will say your impromptu date is pretty impressive. Yeah. Like you were pretty smooth, like prepared with a Mexican restaurant, made it all happen that night. That's awesome. I mean, I was trying my best. I was trying my best. Okay.
Well, we're definitely going to try and help you here in a second, but I do feel like we need maybe a little bit more information because the way you paint it, it's almost too perfect. Like, was there anything weird, anything awkward that happened during the night? Yeah.
So really the only thing that I can think of was like around the bonfire, people were telling like scary stories and things like that. And I didn't tell one there. So while we were eating, she had asked me, what's your scary story? Oh, she asked. Okay.
And I froze, and the only thing I could think of was not too long ago, the battery on my smoke detector died, and it started beeping in the middle of the night. And it freaked me out.
Oh. Oh.
Isn't that more of an annoying story than a creepy story? It's definitely like a ghost story. A snow detector died and is talking from the dead. Like I said, I froze just then. And I don't know why I told that story, but that's the story that I went with. But did you guys laugh about it like we just did? She just kind of stared at me.
And we were just eating, almost like, oh, this is a scary story. Oh, yeah. Maybe she actually was scared by it. She was so frightened that she could barely speak.
Didn't know what to say.
It freaked her out for the entire rest of the time. And now she's worried about what you might say next. Or she was hanging out at a bonfire expecting to meet a manly guy. Yeah. Excuse me, Brooke. I'm scared of... You can hear what you're saying. I know, but he knows as well, being scared of fire alarms going off. To be fair, I'm not scared of a fire alarm. I was frightened of a smoke alarm.
