Why does Molly urge praying over your budget before taking control yourself?
When it comes to budgeting and creating a plan around your money, it can be so easy to lean into your own knowledge and to do what you think should be done first, to do what you understand, right? You lean into your own understanding. That's what I'm trying to spit out. To take the things that you know and to put them into practice before you actually take it to God or pray or whatever. do anything even of the sorts with the Father. Like you just lean into your own strengths and just dive in and go and take control. But God reminds us in Proverbs 3, 5 through 6 to trust in the Lord with all your heart and to lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him and he will make your path straight.
So what does that mean? It means that when you trust God and you allow him to take control, because that is so hard, you know, it's Jesus take the wheel, you throw your hands in the air and you just let him take control. And that is so hard letting go, right? But when you do that and you allow him to be in control and you submit your plans that you've created and let him change them as he will, right? then your path will be made straight. Meaning the things that you do will become so much more easier because you're not fighting against everything else and trying to do it in your own strength and your own understanding when we ourselves only have a very small amount of knowledge and understanding compared to God.
He has a huge, huge understanding of everything that's going to go on in our entire lives and And so why would you want to be the one in control when he knows what's gonna happen down the road, right? So that is why in today's episode, I wanted to share the power of praying Bible verses over your budget, along with a few verses that you can start praying over your budget today. This will help you know what to say when you don't know what to pray about and will help you release control And start sticking to your budget by allowing God to give you his knowledge and direct your path instead of you being the one in control. And not because we didn't have the finances, but because we didn't have consistency.
This way of budgeting where you just throw stuff at what needs to be taken care of first and then just spend the rest willy-nilly, it's not true budgeting. And the traditional style of budgeting is way too much work, like way too much work. As a busy mom, I don't have the time to write down every little single expense and split it up then to see what we've spent and from what categories. I also don't want to have to pay for an app to do this for me. So what did I do? I set up a bills account so that I never spent money that was meant for bills and could have consistent numbers coming out of my paycheck each and every time. There's no questioning when it comes to my budgeting. I know how much goes where every single time.
How does Proverbs 3:5-6 relate to surrendering financial plans to God?
I started splitting up my income physically. I have eight main accounts that allows me to track my budget without having to add up every single little penny for each and every single category. Like just the thought of that gives me anxiety.
