Alrighty, so I've mentioned this in a past episode, but I am currently in a season where I have pushed my budget to the side.
We did a porch remodel at like the end of the summer where it's almost fall time and we were pushing time, right? On trying to get it sealed before winter time so that we weren't like running the heater constantly. And that is why we ended up pushing the budget back. And now we are in the thick of baby prep and saving for Christmas and time off for when the baby comes for my husband to be able to take time off, right? And I think when this episode airs, because I am pre-scheduling it, baby should be here. So that's super exciting. But that means that budget can probably go back to normal, right? But this is still a choice that we made and we knew that we needed it and made it in order to cover the things that are happening in our life because they are very
priority over everything else right now. These are the things that are taking precedence over everything else that we are normally saving for. So how did I do this? How was I able to confidently make these decisions and be okay with my future plans being delayed? Well, that is because I have a budget in place that I am able to stick to and covers all of my needs. So when I say that I pushed my budget off, I don't mean that I didn't cover my needs. My needs were first priority. They are covered.
Why is having a realistic, loveable budget the first step to sticking to it?
They are taken care of. And then what is, and I don't like saying leftover, but what is left over that normally I put towards my savings, my sinking funds, my goals, etc. has been what we have been putting towards the things that we needed to cover that life had brought up, right? So that is what has been keeping us afloat is because we have a budget that is priority. Now, a lot of the times we're When people push off their budget or when you're not able to stick to it, it encompasses everything, right? It encompasses the needs. So your bills, your groceries, your gas, all that kind of stuff. But then it also affects your goals and the things that you want to reach that you have to like take time and be diligent about and work towards it because it's not something that you can instantly achieve, right?
