Rick Byrd - Former Belmont University & College Basketball Hall of Fame Coach On Treating Others With Respect, Building Great Teams, & Sustaining Excellence

#80: Coach Rick Byrd is the former Belmont University men’s basketball head coach. During his time coaching he won over 805 games as a head coach, which ranks 12th all time in NCAA Division 1 basketball. In 2021 he was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame and has been the recipient of the prestigious John R Wooden Legends of Coaching Award, as well as many other highly regarded awards. Under his leadership Coach Byrd led Belmont to 8 NCAA tournaments, 17 conference championships, and consistently had victories over teams like North Carolina, UCLA, Cincinnati, Stanford, and more in his final 14 seasons. Just as impressive is Belmont posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher 20 consecutive seasons and every player that completed eligibility earned his degree.On the show Coach Byrd shares about growing up in Knoxville, Tennessee, playing college basketball, getting into coaching, treating people with respect, building a team, leadership, sustaining excellence, and much more.Enjoy the show!
