I honestly thought, like, Monday Night Raw was a perfect wrestling show, and now it's Wednesday, and it's everything I love about pro wrestling. God, what an amazing time to be a wrestling fan, what an amazing time to be in the industry, and... AEW delivered, and it delivered huge. We have a brand new world champion in Kenny Omega. Kenny put it all on the line last week. It was a great thread throughout the show that if he does not win the title tonight... He will never fight for it again. This is stipulation made in AEW, and a lot of fans have seen the ramifications of it. It was Cody, Hangman Page. Kenny was willing to do it. Kenny was willing to go one last time. opens the show with an excellent, excellent promo.

I loved it. I loved that. He had a callback to his friend. Everything that it had tonight had such a big fight feel. And I got to just get right into the match. First of all, I'm going to talk about conditions. You heard it's hot. It's hot in Clearwater, Florida right now. Wrestling Outdoors, if you watch the show, it's still sunny out. it's still 80, 90 degrees. With those lights, it just makes it even hotter. You have no clue. I watched after so many of the matches where literally wrestlers are asking for water because matches like that are so draining. You could come back and have lost so much weight. I love the fact of Taz, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone all went and talked about Wrestling with under those elements.

First of all, the venue looked beautiful. It looked different. I love the setting. Some of the things like, you know, me and Bully were talking about last week, right? Wrestling sand. I don't care how many people you have sweeping up the ring, vacuuming the ring in between matches. Sand when it gets on your boots, when it gets on the canvas, that's probably already hot. Every bump you feel even more. We've all went to the beach and we felt or got a grain of sand in our eyes. Picture now wrestling 20 minutes deep and you get something like that going on. I'm just putting over the conditions because of how great those guys worked in those conditions. That main event, seriously, it's why I love pro wrestling.

Two guys going at it, big fight feel. The bad guy was the bad guy. The good guy was the good guy. Both guys injured, battered, beaten, bruising. And they continue for the fight of the championship. It had shades to me, Ric Flair versus Terry Funk. It had shades, Ric Flair, Harley Race, old school matches with a new school feel. uh brett davey boy like it was everything if i'm tony khan i'm over the moon i'm over the moon and i'm not tony khan um it had everything that you wanted in a main event For people to understand this business or, hey, what is AEW about? I would literally just show them that match if I'm a first time viewer. And I know we have callers and I know I had callers that were like, you know, today for me and Jonathan Hood.

of why you should watch tonight's show and like i said it delivered there are so many key things i'm blessed to know both those guys from their early beginnings and to watch them grow as performers it's just beautiful to see and then to watch them have matches like that where i get sucked in as a wrestler for 36 years and i'm biting on their false finishes i'm Wondering if they're okay in doing certain moves where they hooked me. Like, man, I know Max's leg is hurt. Does this insane tombstone pile driver on a chair, did that affect him? Kenny falling down, selling. MJF falling down, selling, clutching his knee. And it was great. I'm going to give a couple of comparisons as well. The false finish, when done correctly, is one of the most beautiful forms of art you can do in this industry.
Tommy Dreamer 5:24
I watched some of the greatest of all time do it. I watched as a fan when this one guy called Hulk Hogan did it. And when you thought he was going to lose and the bad guys hitting his finish and when he kicked out at that right moment, you felt energy and a building and everything that you wanted to root for happen.
