Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Welcome to the Busted Open After Dark Podcast. I'm your host, Tommy Dreamer. The go-home episode to Forbidden Door, and I'm going to talk about it right now. This is the Busted Open Podcast.
Chapter 2: What insights does Tommy Dreamer share about the go-home episode to Forbidden Door?
What I personally liked about tonight's show, did it get me, it was just, it was a lot of wrestlers who were going to be on Forbidden Door versus a lot of people who don't get the opportunity to wrestle a lot. And it showed how deep that roster was and is. And then after a lot of the matches, you had some aftermath, which got you to where you want to go to watch Forbidden Door.
Case in point, and I'm going to quickly run down the card here. because i'm just going to omit the main event for the beginning um we had the death riders who have a constant thread for every show uh moxley claudio and yuta bandito brody uh and mystico Area, Mystico, you heard his pop. The guy's a great wrestler. He's unbelievable in CMLL.
Chapter 3: How does Tommy Dreamer evaluate the matches leading up to Forbidden Door?
He's unbelievable everywhere he goes, but he has a very, very strong following. Death Riders open up the show great. They have a nice little thing before with Will Ospreay. You do see these guys each and every week on AEW's television shows. And you're having your thread there, of course, always with the Death Riders and everything where they're going to go to the forbidden door.
But now just like here's some other things where you're like, hmm. And when I say hmm, they're just they had some frigging great straight up pure wrestling matches. I felt like I was at a house show. And the cameras were there. And why I say that is because it was just so wrestling centric. There wasn't a lot of promos. There wasn't a lot of. Hype and hoopla during the show.
They do a good job of promoting when they have to, like for Collision, and they ran down everything, what's going to go on this weekend. But, you know, I'll go right off the bat with, just not in order, Will Ospreay and El Phantasmo. For a lot of people, they may not know who El Phantasmo is. I do. He's frigging awesome. And the announcers have to do the hardest job of introducing these people
from who aren't weekly on the television show. Will Ospreay, we all know who he is. Those two guys crushed it. They had a next-level match where if El Phantasmo was a pushed player on AEW's television, that match could have been even higher. But those two guys have chemistry. Those two guys have history.
Excalibur, of course, had to put in place everything he has to do to talk about how many times these guys have faced in New Japan. I've seen them face in New Japan when New Japan was carried on AXS television and on Fight. It's... God, they had such great chemistry. And I can't describe in words, but when two guys can work like that, I don't know when the last time they actually wrestled.
And it's like you have just this magic with people. Will Ospreay is a next level performer. Fantasmo, I don't think, gets enough love in the States because he's not on national television every week. But a match like that for the amount of time that the guys got was awesome to see. And it was just like a great showcase for both of them. And at the end of the day, Will Ospreay's winning.
Will Ospreay sits back, and here comes Swerve Strickland. Swerve Strickland is going out there. Will's just going to sit back in the audience. I also like that. That's why I said it had a live event feel, because we didn't go to a commercial break. We saw Will sitting there watching Swerve's entrance happen. It felt...
not rushed, kind of organic, and you know the tension between the two of them because they'll face each other to see who main events Wembley Stadium. We have Swerve and Daniel Garcia. Daniel Garcia has been on television a lot. He's a known character within AEW. And him and Swerve frigging tore it up as well.
And had an excellent match, an excellent showcase, where at one point people were talking with...

Chapter 4: What was the significance of the match between Will Ospreay and El Phantasmo?
And a lot of wrestlers that don't get a lot of television time got time on national television to show what they can do and how deep that roster is. Because, man, a lot of people got represented on television tonight, but also a lot of people really, really shined in victory and in defeat.
There's more to it, but there's also, like I said, it was a different way to get you to watch Forbidden Door. Coming up next, I continue the conversation of the go-home dynamite. to forbidden door your one stop shop for r-a-s-s-l-i and that's wrestling pro wrestling nation 24 7 channel 156 something that is working and something that is clicking and something is when you have the use of
Veterans who are hungry and willing to help the youth. And we saw that tonight with Cajun Cope and the Dawgs. We have a backstage promo with Renee, who's also wearing the Rebel shirt, which I highly recommend everyone get for ALS. You can see it on Rebels. Social media. And the Young Bucks are just cutting a promo. It's going to happen at Forbidden Door. Then you hear some noise.
I like stuff happening when all of a sudden you're sidetracked. Camera turns and here comes a fight. Cage and Cope are having a nice little brawl. They're kicking the Dawgs. Am I saying it right there? Is it Dawgs or Dawgs? D-O-W-G-S. So they're beating their ass. Here's the good part. The bad guys are getting their asses kicked. They're retreating. And Cage and Cope stop and they look back.
Now they're the champs. And who do they look back at? The Young Bucks. Those are little, little nods right there, little Easter eggs of we'll be facing each other down the road. I know FTR is on a bit of a break. That's per what the interweb said. I don't know if they said it. Yeah, no, they said they're relaxing in Hawaii. So then the fight continues to the next area.
They're having their fight. There's a makeup lady there. She gets stopped, you know, get pulled almost like a hostage. The good guys make sure the lady is taken care of. And in that moment, that's where the bad guys can strike. A little bit of precious hairspray, a little bit of illegal tactics. And the good guys, Cage and Cope, get not only beat up, but they get choked out.
And they are doing everything to make this tag team, I could even say, more credible. and just laying them out and then what do they do they get the old school five second pose this has been an interesting feud to begin with but they keep on letting the bad guys get up on them and getting heat and with all that heat what are you going to get you're going to get uh You're good guys.
People want to see them kick their ass. And listen, Cage, Christian isn't the good guy, but he's the good guy in this story. And I also like that layer to him because you know he's going to do whatever it takes so he can get a victory. And Cope's been around the block. He was your rated R superstar for a reason. We saw that in WWE. We've also seen it in TNA. I mean TNA, sorry.
AEW, where he'll continue to do what it has to be done. He's been very, very feud-based in his time here in AEW. And, you know, we've had a lot of ups and downs with both Cage and Cope. But I really enjoyed tonight's stuff. And again, like I said, it showed When you have veterans that are willing to go out there and take it to the next level and help the next generation of guys.

Chapter 5: How did Swerve Strickland and Daniel Garcia perform in their match?
And then here comes Mark Briscoe and they teased it and he hits it and he finally hits it and MJF gets laid out. It was an exciting, exciting let's go home and the good guys are standing tall. The steel cage is a draw for this. The stipulation is a draw. And you also, I don't think, I don't want to say I don't think, there's a lot of ramifications to this.
Like I said, if MJF's team loses, he's got to face Mark Briscoe. But then if his team wins, he's going to be looking at his own teammates. Guys, he's locked up. in a cage with that don't like him, both Andrade and Kevin Knight. With that, Andrade, I don't know, man. Andrade is getting over next level. He was always over, right? But he's getting over next level. His body looks insane.
His work was always amazing. The stuff that he does... with all the girls wanting to take pictures with him. They go nuts every time he rips his pants off. How do you know? Exactly. And his just look and his ā he's just looking top guy stuff. And the positions he's being put in is he's being treated like a top guy. So don't know if they're going to go Kevin Knight.
Don't know if they're going to go ā
andrade and also don't forget though he's been sidetracked a little bit but because he wants kevin knight but darby allen his return and everything he does is so so next level um and a former world champion so a lot of places you can go but that intrigue had me interested in for that main event and also all these parties going to be trapped inside a steel cage
