What made the final 2025 RAW sell‑out such a historic event?

Tommy Dreamer 0:00
Welcome to the Busted Open After Dark Podcast. I'm your host, Tommy Dreamer, and the last WWE Monday Night Raw of 2025, and it's got me feeling oosy with the new WWE Tag Team Champions, the Usos.

I enjoyed the last Monday night raw um of twenty twenty-five. Thought it was pretty damn good when I look at what we're trying to establish. We're trying to establish next week's bigger show. But uh Orlando represented. Lately they've been doing their last shows in Orlando, which is kind of cool. The other part of it, a packed house. Um I love wrestling in Florida. Wrestling floor in Florida has become a harder market, uh just because of all the wrestling that they see. But to see that uh it was a sold out event tonight really, really uh speaks volumes for the hard work of the men and women. behind the scenes, in front of the camera, behind the camera, um your marketing department, all that stuff. These are, you know, I know Christmas gifts that a lot of people give, but this is your last show of twenty twenty five.
Tommy Dreamer 1:16
What an amazing year it has been. But to sell out on your last show of of you know, your last Monday night raw, I know they got a smack down, but uh stuff like that is really, really cool to see and and really Really does boost morale because a sellout is a sellout, and that building is a great big ass venue. Um With that being said, send them home happy with new WWE World Tag Team Champions. That's right, the Usos. Uh match that was set up last week. AJ Styles, Dragon League of the Tag Champions Um facing the Usos. Straight up awesome match. Um there was a lot of great, great moments. The setup for this was uh pretty interesting with um I would say earlier in the day we have uh AJ Styles and Dragon Lee hanging out get interrupted by Javon Evans and, you know, hey, what are you doing here?
Tommy Dreamer 2:19
And it becomes uh, you know, hey, I'm here because I'm gonna be a free agent and I gotta talk to Adam Pierce. AJ drops a little bit of a hmm to me as well because he's like, Hey, we went to war, had a great match. Uh anytime you and Leon Slater want to do it again, just hit us up. And I was like, Okay. Uh that match was awesome. Loved it. But Lot of moving parts to the Leon Slater part, 'cause he don't work there. Don't assume that he does. Um However, him and Javon, I love and I love watching them together and would watch it every single week of the two of them together.

How did the AJ Styles & Dragon Lee vs. The Usos match get set up on RAW?

Tommy Dreamer 2:56
Two of them on Raw, two of them on SmackDown, two of them in T and A, one in NXT, one in I don't care. I just really, really like the guys. Uh for their athletic ability and how awesome they are behind the scenes as well. Uh then we go to the Usos and the Usos thing, man, it had me worried, which as a Yeah. viewer, consumer, someone who's just I Man, I just had this conversation with a friend of mine about what makes us a fan, you know, forget about the noise on social media, but like what makes you want to believe, right? And it's different from twenty twenty five from nineteen eighty three when I'm twelve years old and watching professional wrestling because I'm literally watching it uh because uh the network is going away, which is a whole other sadness in my life.
Tommy Dreamer 3:49
I don't know how I'm gonna bounce back from that one. Um, and I'm watching a specific match, not gonna crap on the two guys, but I was like, I remember watching it specifically and being like, these two guys I thought had a great match when I was just a straight up fan. And I'm watching it today. I was like, oh my God, this was horrible. And What turned me like and I'm saying like because I became a wrestler or because the wrestling business has gotten smarter, because the fan base has gotten smarter. And I don't really play like that. I literally go back and just watch as a straight up fan when I have to because I have to cover this show. It's a sporting event. As my job as a man who played the game, still plays the game.
Tommy Dreamer 4:37
I have to give my analysis for what I saw. Um, from my experience, whatever, that's my job. Um, but I also want to go from the fan experience.
