How did Missy Hyatt first react to the Dark Side of the Ring episode about her?
Welcome to the Busted Open After Dark podcast. I'm your host, Tommy Dreamer. The Walking Riot. Missy Hyatt joins me to talk Dark Side of the Ring.
This is the Busted Open
Podcast. The Walking Riot. Missy Hyatt and my other good friend, Matthew Robles, uh from House of Hardcore from Mexico. He's uh he's an interesting character, but I was happy I got to see both of you last night on TV and thank you for joining uh me right here. Pleasure. Uh, Missy, how are you?
I'm doing great.
Dark side last night. Uh found out a few things about you. Um
Well, you were there when I dropped the acid and was underneath the table giggling 'cause you were making fun of me. I
can remember that. The shorts you were wearing. It was uh it was a day. Um when you said something about like I don't remember those things about ECW um because of like your like I didn't know about you and being bipolar and also like the Uh Jim Cornette said it the best. The worst place to be if you're like uh shouldn't be in ECW with substances and you know when your brain is misfiring and bipolar. But I'm glad like all that got settled for you because at the end of the day, you know, it is called Dark Side of the Ring, but you I feel have come on the other side of it where so many people that we worked with, cared for, they did not.
I know. I'm very lucky. If it wasn't for my doctor that I went to that Said, okay, this is what we're gonna do. Because I've known since I was fifteen that I had some kind of something going on. And when I was fifteen they put me on these Antra is something solid. Pills, I forget what they were called. This is before they had mood stabilizers and suffer bipolar, but they didn't exactly call it bipolar. I mean, that was a long time ago. They didn't know I had ADHD or I was dyslexia either. Um, so once they, you know, once it took me a while, and it took a while to get okay and then Sometimes your meds stop working and they gotta switch 'em and tweak 'em and switch 'em around. And what happened the really worst part was after my daddy died and I was living here in Tallahassee.
And they up my Prozac and I had a psych I started hearing voices and had psychotic break. I thought the Russians were coming. I was trying to get my mom in the car and the dogs in the car and you know, the Russians are coming. The Russians are I guess 'cause that's true. I I do some you know, World War Two living history. So I guess that's why I had the thought the Russians were coming. I laugh about it now at the time I don't remember a lot of it, but they realized when I got the hospital 'cause they're on my chart, which all the doctors have, you know, my chart or whatever. And they're like, Oh Her prose she had a Yeah, pro that and it says that when you see it on T V or they do the ads can cause hearing voices and psychoticness, you know.
But
those disclaimers were real is what you're saying.
Yeah, uh those disclaimers are really real. And what I understand is like for guys if they have depression and it says cannot have sex. You know, your wiener will not work. So that would make me even more depressed if I was a guy and my wiener wouldn't work, you know?
That's not nice to talk about Matt that way. Come on now. No,
Matt's not depressed. Matt's just Craziness crazy, he's a little crazy. But um I love you so much.
And I do too. You know that. Um, let me ask you this.
Yep.
Dark side where you feel it's a one hour show. Were you happy with the results? Was that the first time you watched the finished product last night?
No, I watched it the day before, but my friend Lori was here and talking to me the whole time.
What mental‑health challenges did Missy share and how did they affect her wrestling career?
So then I watched it at the watch party 'cause I had a watch party here in Tallahassee.
Nice and
had a lot of people show up and it was really, really nice. I couldn't believe how many people showed up, to be honest with you.
And
And we watched it and at the beginning they hadn't had the voice turned on yet, but I couldn't watch it there 'cause Lori got drunk and my best friend was there. So I was dealing with both of that craziness. 'Cause I don't drink, I don't do anything anymore, you know, I'm very boring.
