Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Hey guys, this is Denise Salcedo with the world's strongest man, Mark Henry, and welcome to the Busted Open Podcast. To kick off the show, Mark and I discuss the dynamic between Cody Rhodes, Gunther, and Sami Zayn on SmackDown.
This is the Busted Open Podcast. Cody Rhodes came out last night cool as a cucumber. And you and I talked about him being really... un-babyface-like, un-good guy-like, him having this confusing feel to him.
Chapter 2: What dynamics exist between Cody Rhodes, Gunther, and Sami Zayn on Smackdown?
And we said it on this show the last time you and I were on, I think it was before you left, that Cody was kind of confusing. He was not confusing last night. He shook hands and fist bumped people, signed autographs on the way to the ring, touched heads together, grabbed the kid's shoulders, like stood on the steps and stood up and acknowledged the crowd.
And he did all those things that we've been accustomed to seeing Cody do over the last four years or so. And I'm wondering, what was the difference, Denise? What made him, was it the fact that we finally reached him? Are they listening? Or was it the fact that Gunther was big mad? He was mad, Denise. I don't know what the hell. It was beyond the fact that he felt like he got robbed.
He said that he was cheated.
You mad. I was like, what the hell is that? You mad. You big mad.
And Cody made reference to him being big mad. And I laugh because it's so Cody. There you go. Take that with you. But Gunther, he stood on the table and stomped like a child. Like, I was very impressed with all the wrestling that was on SmackDown. But the interaction between Cody and Gunther that ended up leading to the
Sami Zayn coming out, which also kind of parlayed into Sami talking to Nick Aldis that led to us getting a reveal of Chad Gable returning. And with respect for the Lucha culture and the Spanish culture and It's hard for a man or woman to say, listen, I was wrong. But it's even harder to say, I'm sorry. I apologize. I honestly, truly feel like I did a disservice to
to the Spanish culture and the lucha history. I got emotionally involved and invested in Chad Gable doing that. He became bigger than he was before in this return, which is what... Did you hear the crowd? Well, you were there, right?
For Raw, yes, for Raw.
For Raw. Like, they... Man, anytime his face appeared, the crowd went nuts. And last night, it was an elite pop. It wasn't good Chad Gable. It was, wow. We choose him, pops.

Chapter 3: How did Cody Rhodes' behavior contrast with his previous persona?
exactly and part of me was going huh i i thought cody like you said should have brought it up and should have been like you know what you did get screwed let's run it back because i don't want to win a championship like that i want to defeat you fair and square i want to feel like this strap that i have
on me that i deserve to have it on me and well that's not the way they went about it with this so i did think that was interesting i thought i loved gunther's reaction i loved him telling nick aldis that he was going to bury him in lawsuits so bad that his grandchildren were going to be paying for it when he died That was savage, but hilarious. But I love the response from Gunther.
I was questionable about Cody and how he handled the situation. And then with Sami, I don't know. You're talking to one of the biggest Sami Zayn fans. I don't know how interested I am in having him take this.
I was interested. Let me recap for you. They did it wrong, Denise. How so? Because... The door was open when Sami said that, Cody, the biggest threat is looking you right in the face. And Cody turned to him and Sami should have said, all you had to do was when Gunther attacked you, not me, I went at him.
Chapter 4: Why was Gunther described as 'big mad' during the episode?
You should have joined me. And then we could have finished our match. But what did you do? You took advantage of me with my back turn and you beat me. Oh, that's a real nice good guy thing to do when you're telling me who am I, the good guy Sammy or the bad guy Sammy? Who are you to do that? Yeah, and I was wrong.
I was wrong for when I could have came and helped you when Gunther jumped you and I just let it happen and walked away. Yeah, but that was me being a child. That was me wanting you to get what I got. And I apologize for that because that was out of character for me. That makes Sammy the good guy. It makes Sammy point out what the wrongs were.
And it puts Cody in a place where he said, you're right. I owe you. Whenever you want a shot at this title, it's yours. But let me do something first. Let me fix it with this clown. And Gunther could have came in, whoa, clown, clown, who you talking to? And then you fix everything. Everything is fixed in the world of WWE, Cody, Gunther, and Sami Zayn. Everything is fixed. But they didn't.
And that's where the cross is in the show last night. because you had it keep going without there being resolution. Like, it's impossible to tell a story unless you're Star Wars, where you can go back and do prequels and tell the story in reverse. Like, you can't do that in wrestling. You got to do it one step after the other. Otherwise, it looks like there's holes and there's miscommunication.
Pro wrestling is designed that an eight-year-old should be able to understand everything that's going on. That's not what we got, Denise. It's complicated right now.
Has your interest in this kind of gone down a little bit, you think, with them not taking the shot?
No, they can fix it now.
Or do you think it's better now?
It's not. It's not going down. It's intensified now that Gable is there. And now that everybody knows that Cody has some explaining to do and some fixing to do and Gunther is right and deserves another shot. Everybody knows everything now. But how are you going to put that together?

Chapter 5: What was the audience's reaction to Gunther's performance?
That character... was just not meant for him. It was meant for somebody else. And while we ended up seeing that take place, this beautiful story unfolds. They get this tremendous reception and respect coming off of this matchup now. Chad Gable coming off of this big matchup. Do you think that it's going to be different for him now on SmackDown?
From the looks of it, he's going to be on SmackDown now. Do you think it's going to be different for him? Will there be more respect under his name? Will he be out there going for bigger titles?
Will it change? I think so, Denise. Everything points to whenever the crowd chooses something, you get over. You become somebody special.
When sometimes they try to force it on you, I think the best thing that could ever happen to Chad Gable was Grande Americano because it made people get to see him in another light and to laugh at him, to laugh with him, to at the end, see him be a grown ass man. To see him step up and take accountability. And I've seen a lot of guys that they tried to force it on.
And when you tried to force, The Rock is pretty much the only guy that I ever seen him try to force it on. And he still flipped it, changed it, and became the best, one of the best that ever was. It's a hard thing to do. is to change the perception to the fan. A lot of people have done it, but I mean at the highest, highest level.
I think that Chad Gable has the ability now to go from Grande Americano to Kurt Angle type of respect because he deserves it. That dude is an Olympian. He's entertaining. Size don't matter with him. Size didn't matter with Benoit. It didn't matter with Rey Mysterio. It didn't matter with Eddie Guerrero. Size is irrelevant when you're good, good. Chad Gable is good, good.
He is, he's a fantastic wrestler and I think that's what everybody's known for such a long time. And that's why I remember when they were doing the whole Shorty G thing, people were like, damn man, why we gotta disrespect him like that? Let's do something more with him.
And finally- But you gotta take the punches. Denise, I posted something Friday about, I should have said yesterday, about how God makes it happen for us. And a seed grows in the ground in the dark, and most of the work is done underground. And then there's a breakthrough moment, and then you sprout and you go through.
And Bible stories always, there's always this conflict, Daniel in the lion's den, Noah in the ark, you know, Jesus in the tomb. There's always these darkness that ends up coming to light. That's what I feel like Chad Gable has had. I think that he has been Shorty G to Grande Americana. All of these things has groomed him to be

Chapter 6: How did Gunther's match finish affect the storyline?
And him and I would just, through that door, like 10 feet away, just argue about pro wrestling every monday every tuesday every saturday morning about what we just saw in wwe then the pandemic hit then i had all this time in the world and i i decided to kind of like throw a message in a bottle out there started making wrestling content and it picked up quickly
And I think it's just the nature of people being at home and people wanting to have an outlet to be able to talk about professional wrestling because as popular as it's gotten now, there was a time where like me, as big of a wrestling fan as I was, I struggled to find someone in my social circle to talk about wrestling with. And that's why I think people flock to the Internet as fast as they do.
Try to find those water cooler hubs to have those morning after conversations. Right. And I think that's where my channel has really picked up. It's kind of become the water cooler, you know, post Monday Night Raw, post Friday Night Smackdown, where people come in and have their conversations, say their piece and hear mine. And it's just blown up. I've.
Right place, right time, because I jumped in as specifically WWE started really picking up in popularity, telling some great stories with the bloodline, some stuff going into WrestleMania 39. I remember the hype of Bad Bunny backlash in that year, and I just kind of kept riding that wave of popularity to where things are now.
So Mark, one of the things you need to know about Santi, and this is crazy, is he does a video every single day and has been doing one for how long now?
Officially, as of May 28th this year, I have done a 20 plus minute YouTube video covering something WWE related for three straight years. I haven't missed a single day, Christmas Eve. bringing Hanukkahs, New Year's, Halloween's when I'm sick, jet lag, vacation in Japan, vacation in Portugal, videos go out.
That's my promise to whoever decides to hit subscribe or follow on any of my pages is that I am there anywhere, everywhere, all at once. You will find me. Show up.
Yes. I have a program called Marking Strong Kids. And one of the things that I say is, guys, Wake up, find out what you're supposed to do, and then show up. Showing up is the first thing you need to do. And secondly, have good energy and positivity in being there, even if you don't want to, because they don't know that you were forced to come. They don't know that you're doing it out of protest.
They just know you're there. Like, man, you just hit me, man. Like, just show up. Give the people what they want.
