Now, I talked about it a lot with Bully here on Busted Open, and I threw out about three weeks ago that I could see Sami Zayn, actually maybe even closer to a month ago, that I believe Sami Zayn could win this WWE Undisputed Championship. And if you look at the story that was being told, the story really wasn't between Cody and Gunther. The story is between Cody and Sami Zayn.
Sami Zayn has been chasing this championship for 10 years, a world championship for 10 years. I believe it was his 10th opportunity at a championship, and he finally did it. He finally got it.

So we talked about, you know, Kendall Gray earlier winning that NXT Women's Championship. We talked to Nick Nemeth today, him capturing that TNA World Heavyweight Championship. What do you think about Sami Zayn now being your undisputed WWE champion?
That match alone, I had, you know, I picked Cody. And I picked it for I'm going what I already know I have. And then if I'm trying to get to SummerSlam, I'm going to probably go Cody CM Punk. That's not the case. You could have Gunther in the mix. Sammy's promo and Sammy's stuff with Cody made me believe that Sammy could do it. And it wasn't an upset.
What led to Sami Zayn's long-awaited championship victory?
I think location, because a lot of people are like, oh, he only won it because it was in Saudi. No, man, the guy deserved it. And I don't say deserved much, where he's always in the right mix. He was such a big part of the bloodline. I don't look at Sammy as the face of the company, but he goes out there and he works super duper hard. And... His selling is amazing. How the people get behind him is amazing. And now he just has another layer. I didn't feel he was the bad. He was telling the truth up until the end where it was a distorted truth where I don't know if this is. I thought he was going to lose and then go full blown heel. I don't know if he needs to go full blown heel. He thanked the people that thanked him, that loved him.
It's going to be interesting to see what the U.S. and Atlantic City market think of him, as well as where this takes you to SummerSlam.
Yeah, and it's all about the road to SummerSlam. There's no doubt about it. It's about the story. It's about the story. Listen, I think it's a win-win situation. I think Cody needs to fight from behind a little bit. I think Cody needs to see if he can get back to where he was and have that championship back around his waist. But it is really about Sammy. It's about Sammy and the fight. And there is the story between Sammy and Cody, and that's going to play out to SummerSlam. But we've also seen Sammy for the last 10 years plus in the WWE, and he's gotten opportunities, and he's never been able to finish his story. And he was able to do that on Saturday. But even storyline-wise, it works for me. It really does.
It works for me. And he won clean. It wasn't like when we see Cody Rhodes. Cody Rhodes does a lot of winning. And when Cody Rhodes is lose, it's usually a loss with some kind of shenanigans or some kind of interference. Sammy won that match clean on Saturday, which I find very, very interesting as well. It's a beautiful story. I thought it was a great moment for Sammy. And Sammy was able to finish his story clean. On Saturday.
Do you feel it's capitalizing on a moment? Or do you feel you could have gotten there for WrestleMania on a bigger platform?
No, I think this is perfect for the platform that it's at, you know, like right now. And listen, there was a lot of people that thought Sami Zayn should have beat Roman Reigns in Montreal a few years ago. You know, that Oosie wave. But it wasn't. It wasn't right. This was the moment. And timing is everything. You know, the fact that the show was in Saudi. The fact that we're on the road to SummerSlam.
