Follow Kariniemi's weather forecast throughout the summer. The sun is ready all over the country. There's no wind. In the south, we're toasting our mincemeat with Makuna Hot Honey. In the west, we're toasting our mincemeat with Grilli Hillo. You don't have to toast it, you can toast it. Kariniemi's, in our opinion, the best chicken in the grill.
Welcome to Klaas Olsson. Klaas Olsson.
It's Robin Lundberg here with the Busted Open After Dark podcast. We're reacting to everything NXT, which is being run by the ladies, including the number one contender now, Lola Weiss.
Why does Robin say the NXT Women's Division is carrying the brand right now?
This is the Busted Open podcast. My main takeaway before we get to the specifics and the matches and the results and the title matches that have been set up is that the women are carrying NXT on their backs right now. The ladies are holding it down for that brand. They really are. You know, and no shade to any of the dudes. I mean, Naraku and Tony D'Angelo, they got the match next week. That's being built up. That's had a nice feud. But I don't think on the men's side of things, they've quite restocked or reloaded or recovered yet. They will. But yet, from Obafemi... and Trick Williams, and Javon Evans, like, you know, legit stars on the main roster now. Obafemi has got to be the hottest new star. I'm trying to think of since when.
I can't even think of a since when to attach to Obafemi. Like, you know, Obafemi is one of those guys who can be one of those generational foundational bedrocks of the company in the, you know, stone cold rock john cena roman reigns kind of mold right like that that holds it down for a a whole period where you look at it as the obafemi era that's the kind of guy that he is trick williams got tremendous crowd reaction you know he's doing really well for him for himself and javon evans is popular too and and a spectacular performer in the ring so when when you have all of those guys basically simultaneously move out, move up, I guess you should say. It's hard to recover from that. I don't even say recover is the wrong word because it's not like they're struggling or anything.
It's hard to replicate that. It's hard to make up for that. It's hard to replace that immediately. Now, the women, I don't know, since I feel like 2022 or Or something like that. It's been a while since they've really been mainstays in NXT. And we've seen so many great women come from NXT to go on to great things in WWE on the main roster. I mean, I could list them all off, but you know, you've all seen it too. And it looks like it's happening again. Because tonight's show, I mean, what are the takeaways aside from Zarya winning that match, the Fatal 4-Way, closer to the top of the show to keep the NXT Women's North American Championship. Izzy, Lizzy, Nikita Lyons were the other participants there.
Which women’s matches and outcomes on tonight’s NXT highlighted that dominance?
She gets the pinfall over Nikita Lyons with the F5. And Zarya looks really strong. in the process of that. And then you've got the end there where Lola Weiss beats Kalani Jordan and Kali Armstrong to become the number one contender for the NXT Women's Championship. Another shot at Kendall Gray. Of course, Kendall took the title from Lola. There's some history there. There's a clash of styles, the amateur background for Kendall Gray, the MMA background for Lola Vice. They had a good backstage segment tonight where they were locked in eye to eye. And ultimately, that's where I land as my big picture takeaway is that the ladies are running NXT. The women are carrying that brand and the dudes got some catching up to do.
that's kind of where i'm at with nxt right now what do you say uh it is busted open after dark here on pro wrestling nation 24 7 of course the phone lines will be open uh you know all night long we're going to get to some summer slam stuff as well but there was plenty of you know other things that took place in the the show tonight vanity project uh you know over uh Sean Legacy and Dorian, who really impressed me, by the way. The latter really impressed me. He was excellent in that match. And that was one of the better matches on the show.
