Jonathan Hood 0:39
On today's podcast, we talk about TNA heavyweight champion Nick Nemeth and his challenger Casey Navarro. What's going to happen with these two? Find out next right here on the Busted Open After Dark Podcast. This is the Busted Open Podcast. Let's talk about what happened in Albany, New York and the TV tapings in Albany. We got a chance to see the TNA heavyweight champion Nick Nemeth.

Who is Jonathan Hood and what will this Busted Open After Dark episode cover?

Jonathan Hood 1:07
do a promo battle with Casey Navarro. And I just want to talk about the champ just for a second, because as a wrestling fan, you know, like I know that the centerpiece of any company is who's at the top of the company, who is the man or woman that is leading the company with their brand. And for TNA, it is Nick Nemeth. And I am a Nick Nemeth fan, and I think that a lot of people are, because you can see the natural ability of Nick Nemeth. You can see that he's always going to give you a quality match and a quality performance and also great on the mic. Last Friday, I worked with Nick Nemeth for the first time. We were doing Off the Ropes right here on Pro Wrestling Nation 24-7. We hosted the show together.
Jonathan Hood 1:58
And I got a chance to know Nick a little bit off the air. And, of course, I thought we did a great show on Friday just going back and forth about sports, entertainment, everything else. The one thing that really rang true for me is that Nick does love the business. Never mind about the duck lips and the whatevs. Oh, I got to talk about wrestling. Why do we have to talk about wrestling? Nick actually does love the business. And I think that deep down he understands he's got a new lot in life. as the TNA heavyweight champion, not just once, but twice. This time around, he comes out there and he's a wanted man. He swivels his hips and he gets on people's nerves, but also has something that he wants to do.
Jonathan Hood 2:41
He wants to prove himself at the top of his profession one more time. I think all of us that watch Dolph Ziggler or all of us that watch Nick Nemeth, we all knew that this guy here has the ability to to be the face of a company. You know they can go every night. You know the promo ability is there, but you just wondered, would he ever be able to get the ball and run with it for the long haul? It's just amazing how wrestling works. You find someone like Nick Nemeth, you say, oh, he's like Mr. Perfect. He's like Kurt Hennig. Well, I mean, as good or better than Kurt in a lot of ways. But it's too much on the nose, so we just can't push him and we just can't put him over because he's good enough to put everyone over, including himself.
Jonathan Hood 3:26
So we just have to see him look up at the lights every single night. And we saw that for a long time in his career. Do you know Nick Nemeth is 45 years old? Now here's the thing about Nick Nemeth being 45. It's kind of like the used car salesman sometimes, it all depends on which dealership did you go to, that will get inside the car and roll back the odometer. You know, the car has a certain amount of mileage, but sometimes you just want to roll back that odometer just so you can have more value to the car. Well, I'll do that with Nick Nemeth because there's times that he was not utilized in WWE. And so I'm rolling back the odometer from 45 to like maybe his late 30s because there's a lot of nights that he didn't get a chance to get over the way he should have or nights he just wasn't even with the company.
Jonathan Hood 4:21
And now with TNA, with him being able to be the heavyweight champion, I'm rolling the odometer back on Nick Nemeth and saying that this is a fresh wrestler that's ready to put on great performances for TNA. Because he was unable to do that on a regular basis with WWE, now with TNA, he's able to do that. And I'm very happy for him that he's getting this opportunity. I really am. You compare this to Roman Reigns. You compare this to CM Punk. You compare champions like Kenny Omega, now the newly minted AEW heavyweight champion.
