Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Welcome to the Busted Open Podcast. This is Dave LaGreca. On today's episode, we talk backlash. That's right. Me and Bully Ray. What's John Cena's big announcement? What are we going to see between Jacob Fatu and Roman Reigns? All that right now on the Busted Open Podcast.
Chapter 2: What is John Cena's big announcement at WWE Backlash?
This is the Busted Open Podcast. We talked about it on Tuesday this week, and that is this big announcement from John Cena. John Cena continues to double down on this, and we're talking about the last one that we discussed on Tuesday was historic, and then now will shock the foundation of the WWA.
So when you hear historic and shocking the foundation, and John Cena's taking the time to cut this in front of the arena where Backlash is going to be come tomorrow night, Bully, like this announcement can't ā this has got to be a big announcement when John Cena is throwing the verbiage around that he's throwing around leading up to Backlash.
He also said in a previous tweet earlier in the week ā he basically said, don't shoot the messenger. Or he did make a comment like, hey, this announcement might not get over.
Well, no, the exact words was, it may not be perfect.
It may not be perfect. So that tells me that there is a bit of a concern that it could backfire. Do you think that one of the nation members had suggested on Tuesday that it could be a physical Hall of Fame? Do you think that there's any chance that because the announcement is being made in the arena that maybe there's a physical Hall of Fame? Maybe coming to Tampa.
I mean, he said that this announcement is going to affect fans and talent. If they were to build a physical Hall of Fame in Tampa, which is where the majority of wrestlers live, I mean, I don't think it's a bad guess, suggestion. I don't think it's bad either. Off the top of your head, what could be the big announcement that's going to once again shake the foundation of the W?
I've heard those words too many times, and I hate to compare it like huge announcement in AEW. I'm so desensitized to the huge announcement in AEW.

Chapter 3: How does John Cena's announcement impact the WWE landscape?
Now I'm desensitized to the announcement in WWE where this is, you know, the game is about to change. It'll never be the same. We're shaking the foundation. All of these, you know, trigger words that make us go, oh my God. And then we get the announcement and we're like, really? That was it? Is it WrestleMania? Are they pulling WrestleMania from Saudi, which I don't think they're doing?
Are they going to do one night in America, one night in Saudi? Are we going to two nights for the Royal Rumble? Will we have the men's Rumble on one night and the women's Rumble on another night?
I don't know. Listen, honestly, among wrestling fans, Bully, right now, this announcement seems to be talked about more than what we're actually going to see on the card at Backlash tomorrow night. And that's not a disrespect to the card that we're going to see tomorrow night because it's a good one. But this announcement is being talked about because it leaves it up for speculation.
You just mentioned the Tony Khan, like those huge announcements. Like, he would say, hey, big announcement coming up on Dynamite tonight, or huge announcement coming up tomorrow night on Dynamite. The WWE is using words like historic and shocking the foundation of the WWE. This is more than just a big announcement or a huge announcement. You're talking about...
The way John Cena is talking, this is going to shake the pillars of the heavens in the pro wrestling world. This is not a big announcement. This is a historic announcement.
Listen, John Cena just split at the end of last year. He retired. This is my last match. I'm done at Saturday night's main event. We didn't expect to see Cena back anytime soon in any way, shape or form. But I'll be damned if just a couple months later, there he is at WrestleMania. Why is he at WrestleMania? Why are we bringing John in for WrestleMania?
Well, maybe we need to bring John in for WrestleMania for the same reason we needed to bring The Rock in for Survivor Series. We're a little light on ticket sales. What can we do here? So they bring him in for WrestleMania to host both nights. Okay, I thought he had an amazing moment with Bianca Belair in the middle of the ring when Bianca announced that her and Montez were having a baby.
I thought that was an awesome WrestleMania moment. Okay, John did WrestleMania, now what? Now he's at Backlash also?
Yeah.

Chapter 4: How could a physical Hall of Fame affect WWE fans and talent?
What if this is like some kind of announcement where you can get in the ring? You can be a WWE superstar also.
Well, I'm going to take John Cena's words. And by the way, a Nation member posted a video from one of these rock camps where he was playing the drums for Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey. Like, I don't know how much that would cost. But he was like, I lived my life. I was a drummer for the Who. Like, I don't know how. It was a Nation member. So I don't know how much that would cost.
But he actually played drums for Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey.
when we were talking last uh earlier in the week about the dude who was at commentary for wrestlemania paul had typed us in the chat that the guy was a billionaire so i'm sure that they're doing these type of things for the fans out there who have the money to do it they know they're not going to get a lot of people to do it but if they get a couple of people to do it and they hit them over the head at full market value they're making a pretty penny
Yeah, but that's fine. If you want to have this available in this VIP club, more power to you. If you can afford it to be a part of this elite club, God bless. But that can't be this announcement. Because to me, that's a tone-deaf announcement. Because what have we been talking about with the WWE? The haves and the have-nots.
So this is just another way of telling that this is for the haves and it's not for the have-nots. And I don't think that's the announcement you want to make with this much pomp and circumstance at Backlash.
If John Cena was to announce WrestleMania 44 in Nashville, does that live up to the ground-shaking announcement that'll change history?
No, because I don't think that changes history. Can you give me an example of something that would change history? I don't have one. That's why I feel like I'm setting myself up for disappointment here. Because I don't think there's anything... What announcement could John Cena possibly make that lives up to the verbiage that he's been saying? Historic, shaking the foundation.
You know, WrestleMania being in a certain city, does that shake the foundation? Does that shake the core of the company? Does that affect...

Chapter 5: What speculation surrounds Jacob Fatu and Roman Reigns at Backlash?
And when I mean here, maybe night two is going to be in Tampa. Now, Tampa, when you think about Tampa, they were supposed to have it for WrestleMania 36. That was the pandemic. So there were no fans. They did it at the Performance Center. Then at WrestleMania 37, it was in the Bucks Stadium, but they were only allowed to have, I think, what, 25,000 fans?
Because we were just coming out of the pandemic. This would be a good way to be like, hey, listen. You know, Tampa was affected two years in a row. We're bringing night number two of WrestleMania right here to Tampa Bay. That would be a big announcement.
And I mean, think about the announcement. You know, John saying I have a historic, you know, announcement to make. And he would say, you know, the two nights of WrestleMania night one will be in Saudi Arabia. And night two, the people start to boil right there.
We'll be right here in Tampa, Florida. Boom. And, dude, the place would fucking go ballistic. And then all this negativity around the WWE. Think about the calls we're going to take on a Monday morning, Bully, when you and I are on the air. This was a great decision. This is the right decision. Hey, they're still doing WrestleMania in Saudi, but now they're doing WrestleMania in here.
And this changes everything because... You are going to have the roster split. Half the roster is going to be in Saudi and half the roster is going to be in Tampa.
And did I just read a report online, not saying that this is true, but I believe I read something where the Saudi trip that they're doing in a month, they're taking a very skeleton crew over there. Only the absolute necessary people involved in the show are going. And when the show's over, they're getting out.
Listen, because there's a lot of uncertainty right now. Now, that's another reason. There's a lot of uncertainty. So now you're planting a flag in Tampa. And I'm just using Tampa because that's where they're going to be. That's where backlash is going to be. You're planting the flag in Tampa.
So if things don't change and there's even more uncertainty as you get closer to WrestleMania, well, no problem. You just have both nights in Tampa. Like, to me, it makes a lot of logical sense.
And if there's any two cities that the WWE owes, in quotes, the WWE owes nobody nothing. Technically, they do, but you get my point. They owe Tampa a legit WrestleMania?
