Virtual Bodies: A Study of Erotic Uses of the Web

04 Nov 2024

Description

The advent and rapid proliferation of new media have granted access to a vast archive of erotic materials and enabled the emergence of new forms of sexuality, such as sexting and cybersex. In the face of such a profound social transformation, concerns about the potential consequences, particularly for young people, have grown. Experts have focused on various aspects of adolescents' consumption of pornography and cybersex, seeking to assess the associated risks and threats. Renato Stella teaches Mass Communication at the University of Padua. He is the author of L'osceno di massa (Milan, 1991), Box populi (Rome, 1999), Media ed etica (Rome, 2008), and Eros Cybersex Neoporn (Milan, 2011). He currently focuses on new forms of mass culture production and dissemination."
