Well, it's good to be back, you know. It's been a little while, but I'm happy to be back, you know, feeling good.
It's the last week and a half before the draft, so, you know, Christmas time's coming, man. Yeah, no kidding. So when we get this close, does time go by faster or slower for you? Because when I was at this point in time as a kid or during Christmas, every day crawled by, it seemed like.
It's probably both because like the work kind of shifts for me from a lot of data work and information gathering to just writing, writing, writing, and more writing all day and just finalizing everything. And, you know, with the YouTube channel, just organizing the last week and, you
getting all that prepared it's kind of like a bit of the calm before the storm i guess i kind of feel like maybe a parent does in early december where it's like you may have your presents done but like you know maybe not and you're just kind of wondering what it's going to be like so kind of like that corner sort of a middle ground it's kind of weird but i'm looking forward to it yeah no i can't wait for it it's like you know it's uh you have your list you check it twice you make sure you got it all right and your wishes are going to be there
And, you know, we're going to delve into the draft and a couple of things we're going to focus on right off the bat. And Vic and I were talking about two players off air. We'll start with Tyne and Lawrence, who you are very high on.
And, you know, Vic and I were saying because I have some doubt, but your argument for him and watching your breakdowns reading like it's a really good argument about how hard he works. how that motor never stops, and the fact that he has shown offensive ability in the past.
But how do we go about navigating the fact that his numbers were not impressive at the NCAA level, despite being a young player? But then when you watch the tape, you see the effort, you see how hard he plays, you see the impact he makes. Where is the truth when it comes to this player?

Chapter 2: How does Will Scouch evaluate Tyne and Lawrence as draft picks?
The guy that always comes back in my mind is like a kind of a Morgan Riley brand guy where the puck carrying and the sort of that neutral zone aggressive style of play that can play on the power play. Like, that's the style of defender that I kind of see there. And the defensive game with Reid, I think, is maybe where things get a little bit tough.
I think he's pretty passive and not super physical and just sort of lets the game kind of come to him. And that can work, but he doesn't really have that oomph factor to him that a lot of really good defensemen, in my opinion, generally have. But the offensive ability, I think, is there there. But, I mean, if he's a guy that a team wants at two or three or four, I think I look another direction.
But that's not to say I don't like the guy. He's a good player with some really interesting tools that... he could definitely put it together into something more, but I'm not sure I quite have him on the same page as everyone else.
The other one that... It's one... At least with, like, Reed, it's like I can see it. It may not be for me, but I can see why people are attracted. The one that I'm a little...
confused about is is dax rudolph and we and like we get a lot of texts about it and people are like really excited about hey maybe the canucks they trade down he could be an option for them like that's the one where it's like i i for me it's like i see a lot of passive nature to it and like a lot of things work out for him but like defensively like there is a level of suppression where it's like i'm gonna sag back as deep as i can and keep everything in front of me that i don't know it's like i don't know how that's gonna translate at the nhl level
Yeah, I fully agree. I think with Rudolph, he's a guy that I've had a hard time with all year. I mean, he's not a guy in my first round at the end of the year.

Chapter 3: What challenges does Tyne and Lawrence face in their draft evaluation?
He's just not my type. I think that... You know, when you do something like this, I don't I think that so much about the sport comes down to your strategy. Can you articulate what your strategy is and can you stick to it? I mean, look at the Carolina Hurricanes, right? Like they have a very defined, clear style of play and style of management and they've stuck to it forever.
And I think that that's the way to do it. It doesn't matter exactly what your strategy might be. And so I have my own idea of how I would want to construct a lineup or tactically deploy a team. But with Dax and Rudolph, I don't know what I would do with him. I just I see him defend and I see him with his knees locked most of the game.
I see him in a guy that if he if he's got the situation in front of him, that it can work like at the offensive blue line, for example. I think there is a lot of interesting tools there. But I've always had a lot of doubts about defensemen where I go, OK, OK.
It's not great unless they're in the offensive zone, because to me, it's like a defenseman has to be really good at not only being good in the offensive zone, but getting it there. You can't generate offense if you can't get the puck there. And with Rudolph, I just find that the defensive game is, you know, the way that people have told me.
in the past over the years, like, well, if you just reprogram how he approaches the game, if you can just get him to, to be more engaged and get them to be a little bit, you know, whatever I go, okay, fair enough. Like I can't disagree with that, but I don't like then turning around and saying that's a top 15, top 10 pick. I just don't know if I can get behind that considering who's available.
So I see some fundamentals there. Maybe, maybe the right person can get in his ear, get him and find something that makes him tick and, I don't know what that would be like, but it's just one where maybe I'm missing something or maybe it's just not my brand, but it's just not my wheelhouse, the way that he plays. And so I would look at different direction, I think, if it were me.
I know you've liked Albert Smith a lot. Is he still the top D man for you in this class?
Yeah, I think so. I love him. I think he's a great player with a lot of potential. I think it would be the only thing I think could go wrong is if a team drafts him and tries to turn him into like an Adam Larson. And in reality, you might get a Rasmus Ristolainen out of him. Like I think Smith is a guy that he plays to me like Brent Burns. He is an aggressive offensive guy.
He pinches in the offensive zone. He loves to have the puck. He loves to be confident.

Chapter 4: Who are the other prospects being compared to Tyne and Lawrence?
Yeah. The second half was off. off the chains, man. It was unreal.

It's time now to go to the Able Auctions hotline and welcome in our next guest. It is Sheng Peng covering the San Jose Sharks for San Jose Hockey Now and NBC Sports California. Sheng, thanks for making some time for us today. How are you enjoying the World Cup? Are you enjoying it at all?
I am, yeah. I just watched Norway beat Iraq here 4-1. So, yeah, I'm having a good time with it.
Yeah, that's kind of where we're at, too. It seems like every single match has been entertaining so far. And even if you're not a hardcore soccer fan, it seems like it's hitting a lot of markers. In the States, especially, every single arena is massively sold out. It seems like a pretty good success so far.
Yeah, no, absolutely. I think it's done well so far. And just as, you know, we're all in sports, so anytime we can just watch the best of the best at anything, right? The Olympics and whatnot.
