What is the team of the tournament in the West Indies Championship?

When life surprises us, Mehiläinen's event update helps. Welcome to our reception without a schedule. We have a life task every day of the year.

This is Kimo Roach, and I listen to the Caribbean Cricket Podcast. Yes, yes, yes, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another edition of the Caribbean Cricket Podcast. People said to me, Mash, you need to change your background. You need to have a more professional background. Look at this. I've tilted the angle. I've moved the old Y shirt to my right. I've got the polo also to my right, and I've got the yard flag behind me. One of these days, when somebody's willing to work as a graphic designer for CCP, we'll do things properly. But until then, I saw it go, you know? But as the thumbnail says, or as the thumbnail shows, as the episode title suggests, we're looking at the team of the tournament in the West Indies Completed Championship.
Machel St Patrick Hewitt 1:35
We won't get into the politics. I did a bit of that on last night's live call-in show. Santolki and I are recording something late this week on the kind of overall on the championship itself and obviously the controversy that has come out in relation to some of the Guyana players being fined for tampering with the ball, etc. We'll cover that properly in another episode. In this particular episode, so it'll be a very quick one, I just want to look at or tell you my CCP team of the tournament. And by that, I mean the best 11 players that if you were going to select a best 11, this is who I would select. This doesn't mean that all of these players should be playing for the West Indies in the upcoming series against Australia.
Machel St Patrick Hewitt 2:24
Although, of course, I encourage you all to get in the comments below and decide if any of these 11 you would immediately put into the West Indies test side. Arguably, based on the fact that I think this is the best 11 that played in this year's tournament, the majority of them should be playing in the A team series against South Africa A team. However, as I've said in some previous episodes, it all depends on what the purpose of the A-Team series is for. If the purpose of the A-Team series is to blood the next set of players that you believe are just below the test level, then the squad should be made up of the majority of players that I'm about to announce. If you think the A-team series is valuable match practice for our test team, then the A-team squad should be made up of the majority of players that Darren Sammy intends to select for that test series against Australia.
Machel St Patrick Hewitt 3:25
And one of the reasons why I say that... is South Africa won't just be using that A-team series as a developmental series. They undoubtedly will be using much of that A-team series to make sure that the players who are going to play in the World Test Championship final who aren't in the IPL or the PSL get as much top level, if you can call West Indies A-top level, as much top level practice as they can get going into the World Test Championship. That notwithstanding, here's my 11th. I'm not saying that this is my 11th. So I'm not here to argue about whether this person should or shouldn't be there. This is my 11th. My two openers are as follows. John Campbell, 517 runs this year, come back after his ban, and it was a stellar comeback.
Machel St Patrick Hewitt 4:15
He was the best opener in the tournament this year, and led from the front for Jamaica, this despite carrying loads of injuries this season as well. 517 runs, an average of 47 runs. three centuries and two fifties. I think it's an absolute no brainer. John Campbell was the best opener in the competition this year. If it was up to me, John Campbell probably comes straight back into the test team versus Australia because he already has international experience. He's come back after two years and he's set pace on everybody in the competition. I know there'll be people who say, no, we shouldn't give up on Mikhail Louis just yet. And I hear that But for the purposes of this particular episode, John Campbell, best opener in the region this year.
Machel St Patrick Hewitt 5:02
Initially, I wrote down Mikhail Louie alongside him.
