He did medical school, residency, and thoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Calgary. He then went on to do additional thoracic surgery training at Mayo Clinic, and subsequently practiced at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. He came back to the University of Calgary as Assistant Professor in 2016, and is now the Program Director for the Thoracic Surgery Fellowship program.
