Courageous Journeys® ~ Impact & healing from childhood trauma

The Therapy Relationship: Knowing How and When it Might Be Time to Move On

25 Oct 2024

Description

Therapy is about healing, growth, and finding your voice. But what happens when that voice is telling you it's time for a change? And what if there is another voice telling you you’re wrong? In this video, we're tackling the challenging topic of ending a therapeutic relationship, both the desire/need and the how. I'll explain why it's okay (and important) to question if your therapy is working for you, and discuss some signs that might indicate it's time for a change. I'll also share personal stories of my own therapy endings - spoiler: it's not  easy, even for therapists! This video is for anyone who's ever felt uncertain in the therapy relationship or process, unsure if it's okay to make a change, or simply curious about this part of the healing journey. I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments. Have you ever had to 'break up' with a therapist? How did you handle it?
