Mitch Cleary is reporting that Geelong are investigating potential ACL for Brian Myers, which is an unusual one. We asked Andrew Mackey about this in the AFL Nation pregame last night, and this was his response.

That's great. And isn't the school of thought is that it's less explosive, less volatile, less... Impactful. Dacos doesn't come off in the last quarter on the weekend, which is fine. That's a good move. But you can't do that every game. Because you will get fatigued and then eventually you'll break. So it's just an interesting conversation. Is it getting worse?
Ken, do you think it's getting worse or it's just the normal season?
Well, there's no proof for me to show the opposite to that. And that is high rotations cause the game to become more injuries, worse, slower scoring, all the things that we're trying to introduce into the game. We're trying to change to get better scoring. The rotations on with you, Simo. I don't think rotations... One of the reasons a few... They talked about rotations.
They didn't like seeing so many people come off and on the ground. It's ridiculous. Player safety is the first thing we need to worry about. Injuries are... seem to be getting more and more as we go. And that was my personal experience in the last couple of years.
Lightning delays at the SCG last night. What did they say about lockout laws in Sydney? This one went past 11 o'clock. In fact, one more lightning delay, the game would have finished early and Sydney would have won with a lower score. Yeah, it was one more lightning delay away from that. So Kernow kicks three, Toby Green kicks nought, goals five. And the Swans are box office.

But they've got us.
As annoying as it is for us, they have us. They are trying to... engineer a bigger market. They're trying to give these fans in these markets the best chance to see the clubs in the best slots. They're trying to grow their audience. The other thing is that with two games on a Friday gives a better flex on a Thursday night. Now, each club can only have three five-day breaks.
But four teams on a Friday night gives them a better flex on a Thursday. So the benefit here, you'd like to think it will protect and help guard against the Thursday night shockers, which we had. We had Essendon. We had Carlton. We had some shocking Thursday night games as part of the floating fixture last year.
So the idea of this is we get greater quality control on a Thursday night in the back half of the fixture. I'm coming around. So, Kenny, are you with me? I'm listening. That's a start. But that is why, right? The ratings are bigger. The gate is bigger. It makes sense. Into the market.
It just feels ā I mean, the best time to watch football, trust me, for the last 12 years being in Western Australia, the footy comes on at 5.30. That's heaven. And it's so good. And a bit different in Adelaide as well. But to watch a game at 5.30 ā And it's all over by nine. I just think the WA market is free. They're not going to end up competing with anyone over there.

Yeah, I'm with you completely. I think the future of this game, Sydney and Giants, I'd be surprised if they did a double up next year on a Friday night, Sam. I think the AFL will listen to the Swans. I would be surprised based on the conversations that have happened this week. Oh, yeah? I don't think it's necessarily going to be a double up again next year.
But part of the reason there's a big crowd there last night, 44,000, it's because they like to go to the footy in Sydney. On a Friday night. That's a healthy crowd. You don't want that early Saturday afternoon.
If we have it like Kenny's way, and lots of people are with Kenny here, and they don't get that Friday night, they don't get it. We're playing Geelong and the Western Bulldogs, and that game will be a Saturday twilight, Sunday twilight. People don't go. People don't watch.
Yep. Some MRO news out of last night. So I think Joe Fonte's in some trouble for a bump on Isaac Heaney in the fourth quarter. I think this is going to be careless, medium impact, high contact. We'll wait and see whether that's how it plays out. But that happened late in the game. And I think that's just a run of the mill, weak meat and potatoes. This is for safety.
