Chapter 1: What highlights from the Brisbane Lions game are mentioned?
the award-winning crunch time all sorts of options in board gallop who goes quickly pulls the trigger on the kick to full forward it clears the initial pack re-tackle got rid of it blackerston hot footy rainer pinched it and golden Cam Rayner with a touch of class in the jumble. That's it. A Saturday afternoon stroll for the Brisbane Lions. They come to Marvel and put up 22 goals.
Beat the Bombers by 64 points. The main talking point was all about a whiteboard, but in reality, this was another belting by the best team in the league. Wilmot, Morris, Lowman and Bailey ran riot. In fact, we could name 10 lines as the premiers did what they wanted under the lid.
Groving front and centre is Manor who dribbles it through the goal square. No one's back there for North Melbourne. It'll just carry. Sean Manor, he kicks it long to the top of the goal square. Neal was in the play, spoiled, crumbed by Jack Martin. Rightful kick around the body.
Jack Martin kicks his second goal. Hill, tight in the pocket, open goal square, finds Wangadee Miller up. Slightish angle. They've been far too good tonight, the Saints. And, well, it's been all one-way traffic since half-time. Only two goals to Carlton for the third quarter that put the game completely to bed and questions will be asked. 16-12, 1-0-8, St Kilda. They beat the Blues 9-15-69.
After a tight first half for the Cattery, the Cats flexed their second half muscle. Max Holmes was brilliant. Mullen stopped Sheasel. Sean Manor found some form. While in the second half of the doubleheader, under the lid of Marvel, well, it was the same old Carlton led, and then they faded as St Kilda found their groove.
TDK has his best night as a saint against his old team as Ross Lyons' team win two straight for the first time this year. Dersmer's got the young legs. He gets it now with the left. Oh my goodness! What about that with 90 seconds on the clock? He gathers. He loops. He kicks it on the left. And the game is alive. And Seth Campbell has invented back enough. Wow. That is a heck of a goal.
And at the other end of the stadium, he's got three. The black and gold are up on their seats. And the ball will be in his hands. Siren sounds. the Tigers find their first victory and they continue to dominate the Eagles home by 10 points Richmond Finally, they have more injuries than anyone in the league, but they found a way.
Noah Bolter led the way as Campbell put down the phone late and they get their first points of the season against a very disappointing West Coast Eagles in front of their 2006 Premiership heroes. Wherever you might be, right around Australia, Rosito and Ford. This is Sunday Crunch Time.
And a very warm welcome to you, wherever you might be, right around Australia, the SEN radio network, the SEN app, or however you have found us. It is Sunday crunch time. A couple of games left in round eight. You've got the Ds after an interesting week off field, but most certainly been in form on field. Head to the SCG to take on the Sydney Swans, who have had a huge start to 2026.

Chapter 2: What were the key talking points from the St Kilda vs. Carlton match?
Because he had tickets to the president's lunch for round 10.
He won't get them now.
I was like, come on, mate. Four blokes going through a real rough week, and this is the type of gear you do stick out. Adam Cooney, the Brownlow medalist in the house. He's already fired up for a Sunday. Hello, Adam. Hello, guys. Nowhere else I'd rather be on a Sunday afternoon than with two of my favourite media identities. I'm Lukey and Picks, eh?
On a Sunday, Arvo.
Can't wait for the next two hours.
Why are you sitting in the closet? I can see you in the cupboard there. Why are you there?
Just couldn't drive an hour? That's where I feel most comfortable, Liam. Well, I'm in Evie's bedroom at the moment. Well, I only got the late call-up. Jenkins usually crunches on the Sunday. So he said to me, mate, I've got a couple of things on. Is it okay if you do Sunday crunch? Yep, no dramas. All good. 12 till 2. And then I get the text message through. Yeah, just 12 till 2.
Then if you can, just jump on for the pre-game hour for the Sydney Swans and Melbourne game from 2 till 3. Geez, I've been stitched up.
Just make sure you shoot me those invoices.

Chapter 3: How did the Tigers secure their first victory of the season?
But, yeah, I'm with you. The Giants and the Swans on a Friday night as part of a doubleheader, I think this is a way they could actually sell it to the northern states that they play Friday nights. Because the bigger crowds for Friday night football are going to be the Giants and the Swans compared to 440 on a Saturday or a twilight game.
But the showdown most certainly shouldn't be a doubleheader.
The first message that's come through. 0-4-3-3-9-8-11-16. If you want to join in. What do you got? I wouldn't watch it. Oh, come on. This message has come through. Come on.
Well, you know what? We would have been better off. I mean, hindsight's an easy thing and a wonderful thing. But, I mean, the Dogs and Frio could have played on a Sunday afternoon. We could have had three games today and had that standoff.
Easily.
game on a Friday night. That would have been the one. I mean, you look at it on the schedule leading into the season, Dogs and Freo on a Friday night is going to be a blockbuster encounter. You can't foresee, you know, some of the injuries. And the Dogs played really well, to be fair. But, I mean, that standalone game would have been amazing to watch on a Friday night.
We would have all been peaking in the last quarter, and everyone's talking about it Saturday morning. But you know what, Adam, and Pickers and everyone out there. Okay, so the AFL and the TV networks, they continually say they have a concern about people watching it. That may be true. It wouldn't be true. Well, just do it, Pickers. Just do it once. Just do it one-off Friday night in 2027.
And if the numbers are low because they're readily available and everybody can see them, if the numbers TV-wise are low around the country, then the AFL have proven to be correct.
I'll put it to you right now. There would be more people watching Adelaide and Port Adelaide in a showdown than watching Richmond and Essendon or Carlton and Richmond or... You know, those big drawing clubs that are going no good. So I think there'd be much more people that would watch it. I'm talking neutrals, right?

Chapter 4: What insights are shared about the upcoming matches and team performances?
The following week, Richmond and Essendon on a Friday night at 7.40. Oh, snooze. Dream time? Oh, it's dream time. Yeah, okay. Well, on the Friday night, doesn't it normally dream time the Saturday night? Usually is. Yeah. Well, they've got them on a Friday night anyway. And then they've got Fremantle and St Kilda, which will be a big game at 8.30.
So there's nearly an hour between those two games.
But if you break it down, so Brisbane play Carlton Friday night. Friday night at the Gabba is a way to try and get some more people through the gates. No problems. They're probably a team that are tracking bigger crowds. The week later is ā who did you say it was the week later? In two Fridays.
Let me go back.
Richmond, Essendon.
It was.
No, it was Sydney, Collingwood and Sons and Port. Okay, so Sons and Port on the Gold Coast, right? On the Gold, yeah. So that's another way to try and get some of those Gold Coast people who on the weekends have got things to do to try and see if a Friday night works. I don't hate it. As much as I did the showdown on Friday night taking second billing.
Yeah, I just don't like the second billings at all. So that's my snap for the weekend. I'd say the text machine is most certainly going to agree with you, Pickers, because the footy fans most certainly don't enjoy them. Yeah. Can I snap one off about umpiring or not? Or should I leave that alone?
Nah, go on.

Chapter 5: What are the implications of a draw in football?
Right around Australia, a very warm welcome if you are joining us for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. The Dees in Sydney to take on the Swans in the first game of a couple to end round eight. And of course, tonight, it is the Suns and the Giants. We do it all thanks to Osito and the Ford Ranger, Adam Cooney, the Brownlow medalist in the house, Liam Pickering and Cam Luke.
Leon Cameron, not too far away, will jump on the line to build up towards a very interesting afternoon game. I want to just get this quickly out of the way. Yep. Are you boys okay with a draw or do we need to reignite the conversation? No issues with a draw. None? Never have been. No issues with a draw. How many times a year does it happen? One? Maybe two?
I think we've changed enough rules recently. Let's just leave it at that. Both teams coming off a five-day break. They wouldn't have wanted to play 30 seconds more. And I'll tell you what, the Pies fans would have absolutely been happy to leave with the two points because the momentum was...
I can understand that the Hawks would have been probably the fans of the opposite and the players the opposite, but there'll be a time where there'll be a team that goes the other way. Absolutely.
I am surprised.
Might be a valuable little two points as well. I am surprised that the TV networks haven't lent on the AFL.
To play extra time? To play extra time. No, you're starting to sound like Hutchie.
No. It's just a draw. It's two points and we move on. I want a draw. A draw is a result.

Chapter 6: How do teams handle pressure during games?
In fact, I think it would be ridiculous to change it, but so much of what we do, and the Friday Night Doubleheaders are a perfect example of this. The TV networks, you pump so much money into it. I am surprised they haven't at least asked the question, and they may have. They may have. I think a draw is a result, which is something that people forget. It is a result.
If they didn't get any points in your footy tip, it's nought. But for the actual teams, it's two.
Did you play many draws? Sometimes both teams deserve a draw.
I played in one draw, which was against Brisbane at Geelong. Lepich tapped the ball through very cleverly with about 10 seconds to go to tie the game up.
Hey, just before we... Through the forward goals, I mean. Either of you gentlemen who have played the game believe that Whiteboard Gate is a story, like a major story?
I don't, personally.
Adam, you... I thought it was funny. You've played the most recent? I thought it was funny. I can't understand when people say there's a big story brewing. What is big about it? The opposition have identified weaknesses in individual players. Well, I reckon you're bereft in your duties if you're not identifying strengths and weaknesses in the opposition that you're coming up against every week.
I will agree with Brad Scott, though. The handwriting was primary school-ish.
It was. That happened in the late 90s at Geelong. Oh, hello. So we were playing Melbourne, and Neil Denner, I think, was the coach. I think it was late 90s, 1999, something like that. And they left their ā so the game's over. But they left his coach's notes. in the change rooms. And the cleaner gave them to Gary Ayres.

Chapter 7: What is the significance of Brodie Grundy's 250th game?
Until they do something that makes me think otherwise, you have to give them their respect that they deserve after winning the last couple. And as you mentioned, they don't play their best footy until the back end of the year. And they're just cruising along at the moment, doing good things, sitting in the four. So they've still got some upside. We understand that.
And until someone knocks them off the perch, I think they have to be the number one seed. I think Sydney have this a little bit as well, probably not to the abundance of Brisbane, but the avenues to goal that the Lions have is remarkable. So, you know, Logan Morris, who has been great, and he's only been there five minutes himself.
He's a good talent.
He's a serious player. Charlie Cameron's in all-Australian form, and he had a down year last year. Except for the grand final.
Except for the grand final. That was when he got his game going again.
Lowman, down year last year early because of some injuries. Got going in the back end of the year. Their mids kick goals. Of course, Zach Bailey headlines it. But Ashcroft's hit, you know, Neal hits the scoreboard. They have an ability to have probably 10 or 12 different players who can kick multiple goals. Not just sneak a goal every now and then. Can actually hit the scoreboard.
They come at you in waves because you were there yesterday. I was.

Chapter 8: How does Sydney's injury situation affect their performance?
Essendon's a little bit different because they're not one of the best teams in league, in particular defensively. But geez, it's hard to stop when they get going.
I've never seen more players kick half volleys to each other than Essendon. They kick worm burners. They never get the ball in the full. That just makes Brisbane's work a lot easier. But... I love their mix. So Bailey four, Morris four, Loman four, Rayner, McKenna two. So they're getting them with the taller players and the smaller players.
And that's where I reckon they're the most dangerous, is that they've got... these medium and small forwards that are just electric. And they've got a strong midfield, tough midfield. Draper is a good Ruckman, although he had his colours lowered yesterday, I thought, to Peter Wright. Oh, here we go. That was going to be my Sunday snap.
Is it too early to start talking about Peter as all-Australian contention?
Yes. It's way too early.
Another month?
Another month? You'd need at least another four months or three months of that.
Not too many Ruckman putting up those sorts of numbers in a game against the Premier. 26, two goals, 127 hit-outs. He's coming with a bullet.
Well, I did give him a vote yesterday. I thought he was excellent. Yeah, I thought he was really good. The Bombers just make so many mistakes under pressure. And I thought there were some positive signs with some of their young guys. I thought Roby looked all right yesterday. He showed a bit. Wright was obviously good. Caddy was good again. Sharp was okay.
