Sometimes writing my bite size intro is my favorite thing. I don't I don't know why. It's fun. It is. It's fun. It's just like this little, little nugget of delight for me. All right, y'all. We'll get into the real deal with that in just a minute. But first, we're gonna let you know that our deep dive today is a question from a listener about how do we go about accepting the changes in our reading lives? Because life keeps on keeping on. But first we'll get started the way we always do with our bookish moments.
What are the bookish moments of the week and why do they matter?
Meredith, who's in your ears? I'm gonna tell you,
Katie. Very good question. So I in this last week. Feel I kind of feel like for the last like month and a half, two months, I've been a l slightly off my rocker in a lot of in a lot of ways. Like I kind of I'm just like cruising right on the edge of keeping it together. You know what I mean? Like I feel like I'm hiding it pretty well, but then there are certain places where you're like, that's weird. That's just That's weird. And one of those places is that I decided the other day, because I have such a hard time deciding on my audiobooks. For some reason, that's just a continually difficult thing for me to choose. It's an audiobook that's gonna stick. And I decided that I was going to choose audiobooks based on just the narrator.
And my favorite narrator of the moment is a guy named George Guidall. Okay. I don't know if you've ever, you've probably read a book by him. He's been doing this for a long time, but his voice is just for me, it's perfect audio narration. It's like your dad, if he also happened to be a stage actor of great renown, sitting down and telling you a story. And I do actually want to say he has narrated more than 1,300 audiobooks, and he's in the Audible Narrator Hall of Fame. He's done everything from Crime and Punishment to the Walt Longmeyer books. So I am finishing up my latest book of his. And as soon as I'm done, I'm gonna move on to another book of his. And by his I mean that he's narrated. So it's gonna be an interesting way to choose audiobooks for a while.
Hey, I like it. And I I mean And I get it. You know, like sometimes you just need someone's voice in your ears, even if you don't care whose story they're telling, right? Like I feel that way about Bonnie Turpin, as we know. Yeah. A lot of people feel that way about Julia Whalen, where it's just like, you know, whatever you're saying. I want to listen to it. You know, if Barack Obama read anything other than his own books, I would listen to that. David Seneris. Sure. I just I get
it. I love it. George Guidal, he's m he's my man of the moment. He makes me feel safe. I really I love it. What's your bookish moment of the week?
That's sweet. Okay, my bookish moment is nonsense. I recently got Shad, my gay bestie, to join a dating app. And now I have this amazing portal that does not matter at all in the world to express my opinions about people. Essentially, when he meets a guy and they start chatting, if books come up at all, even mid-date, he will message me right then in the moment. And I get to weigh in on what these people are reading and whether or not I think it's a good choice. Because I know I'm so well, I'm not talking about whether that book is a good book in the world.
