Chapter 1: What is happening on the first day of Diddy's trial?

Now Diddy's appearance wasn't the only interesting thing from Friday in court. We were also given some new details about the case. I caught up with Rolling Stone's senior investigative reporter, Cheyenne Roundtree, who was in the room with us.
Yeah, so during court, we only, the press only have a little bit of insight into what they're actually talking and discussing about. So there was an issue on the table today about if the government was going to be allowed to introduce, to show the jury a photo of victim one with a friend of theirs. So it was in 2005, this picture is from in May, and
The government is describing this photo or saying that this photo is going to be used to establish a relationship between the victim and a witness who will be testifying as part of the trial. And it's to show this alleged victim in the state how they looked like right before they met Diddy and went on to have a relationship with Diddy.
Now, Diddy's team objected to the photo being entered because they say this is kind of prejudicial, that the victim looks quite young in this photo and basically they were making the argument that it looked like if they introduced this photo of this victim looking very young, there would be some maybe inference that Diddy was having a sexual relationship with a teenager. Now,
The victim was of age at this time, but she just looked young. And the judge ruled that it actually would be allowed in because this is showing this victim how she looked right before she signed a record deal with Diddy, which happened six months later. So it was allowed in the evidence.
So it just kind of shows the bigger scale of we're up to the nitty gritty point and we're still haggling out issues over a single photo that's just kind of there to set the stage.
