Welcome back to another episode of Dishing It Out, brought to you by Kerry Gold. I'm Gary O'Hanlon. And I'm Gareth Mullins. Today we're speaking to good friend Kevin Dundan. Uh do you know Kevin?
Ah yeah, yeah, I know him through the years and like uh as we'll probably get into a little bit but um uh I sat with him when we were up at uh when we were at that funeral for growth. Ah yeah road length. Yeah, yeah, a good pal. I mean we're probably talking about it a little bit but as uh listeners to the show will know we lost a very good uh friend and colleague of ours uh last year to uh Motor Earl's this. I know you've done uh you Done the coin the the demo circuit with 'em for a while video. Yeah,
we've I've been for nearly twenty years now, yeah. Food festivals. I've got to know Kevin. We Oli, I'll probably chat to him about it. I always remember Kevin bought the first bottle of champagne. We Ollie was born, I was leaving the house to go to taste the only golden edge's water's broke. I was like, Jeez, I don't have time for this. And Nevin and Kevin and Brian McDermott set up sure you had time for it? I know yeah. I always remember they they set up the table for me and I landed there at five to eight. Ollie was born at half five. It was a mad day. We ended up on the biggest. Anyway, massive thanks to Kerrygold for supporting the pod. You already know and trust them for the best butter in the country, but now they've brought the same gold standard quality into a brand new range of rich and creamy Kerrygold cheese.
Whatever the meal, whatever the moment, when you're making memories around the table, say cheese, tin carry gold.
And of course, stay tuned for dish of the week, culinary conundrums later in the pod as usual. Let's get stuck in, guess. Lovely. Okay, joining us today, a good friend of ours. Haven't seen you in a long time, Kevin Dundan of Dunbrody House. How you keeping, Kevin? Tanned up from head to toe as always. As always. You look like a man in the southeast, what can I say? Yeah, I I'm not sure I'm not sure that's a wax for tan though. Good bit of it, isn't it? Is it I? You get anywhere nice there, so we've been a Italy France going on in there as well, I'd say, is there? Uh there's another
No, no. So what happened was I actually turned sixty this year. Oh wait, really? Yeah, so I decided that uh instead of a birthday present, I was going to uh invite each of my children and my wife to go away for a week, each individually. Ah, deadly. So I asked them where they wanted to go and then I booked it. So Tom, my youngest boy, we went to Dubrovnik in Bosnia and we did canyoning and whitewater rafting for a week. So that was really cool. It was actually Really nice idea I'll be stealing. Yeah. Yeah, but it was a really nice idea 'cause he's like well he's just turned nineteen. So you kinda saw a side of Tom that I hadn't seen before, which I was delighted to see, which was great. So Brilliant. And then uh Sophie and myself went on the Camino for a week.
Uh that's the middle girl. And that was great. Kind of kind of she's a real foodie, so she's vegetarian or prescritarian. So but uh What's the
grobble like along that Camino is
Yeah, it was it was it it was good. It was interesting. Like there was if I was there my own I probably would have gone down a different path. Yeah, okay. But because she was like we ended up going to a sushi restaurant, I think about her when we were in uh
just to
make
sure
that you could eat
something.
Yeah.
Is it challenging from a physically? Um you can you can just scramble it or do you want to do it? Yeah, no as you like.
Okay, 'cause I do quite a bit anyway. Okay, yeah, yeah. It would be challenging enough though if you weren't you'd have to do a bit of prep. Right, okay.
Yeah. But is there like do you kinda you have a certain amount of days to get a certain distance, you kinda pick and choose yourself, is it? Yeah.
Yeah, so I kind of went I just booked a a f I think it was a four day package with Camino Way and then uh they picked us up from the airport, dropped us to a hotel and uh then we walked kind of thirty kilometres a day.
