SPANISH RESUME Academia vs Industria: ¡Las oportunidades están ahí! ¿Cuántas veces pensaste: "¡Se acabó estoy harto/a de la academia! ¡La dejo!" y un segundo después... ¿Qué voy a hacer? Siempre he estado en la academia, nadie me va a ofrecer trabajo. El sistema académico ha sido creado para hacernos pensar que no tenemos ninguna oportunidad fuera. Sin embargo, nos falta información sobre cuáles son nuestras posibilidades. Los académicos tienen muchas habilidades que no son comunes en la industria. Ésta es la razón por la que las empresas quieren contratar doctores. ¿Cuáles son las oportunidades fuera del mundo académico? ¿Has oído hablar de los nómadas digitales? ¿Cómo afecta la globalización a nuestras oportunidades laborales como académicos? ¿Cuáles son las ventajas y desventajas de ambos lados (Academia vs Industria)? ENGLISH RESUME Academia vs Industry: The opportunities are there! How many times did you think "I am done with academia! I quit!" and one second later... What am I going to do? I have always been in academia, no one will offer me a job. The system in academia has been created to make us think that we don't have any opportunities outside. However, we have a lack of information about what are our possibilities. Academics have so many skills, that are not common in the industry. This is the reason why companies want to hire PhDs. What are the opportunities outside of academia? Do you hear about digital nomads? How does globalization affect our job opportunities as academics? What are the advantages and disadvantages of both sides (Academia vs Industry)?
