KATE KRIPKE: On Humanizing Motherhood

23 Nov 2020

Description

Today's guest is an incredible woman who has been creating ripples in the world of postpartum wellness for over a decade, Kate Kripke. Kate is the founder and director of the Postpartum Wellness Center of Boulder, which she founded in 2007 as well as has implemented programs internationally in support of women, families, mothers, parents, and couples. We dive into some important conversations around maternal mental health, self-care as women and mothers, staying upright during these times, letting go of the expectation of feeling good, and treating each woman individually and holistically depending on their needs. I loved chatting with Kate as she is a wealth of knowledge, has infinite experience in this vein, and truly is a heartful soul on a mission to support women during the massive transition of motherhood. ABOUT OUR GUEST: KATE KRIPKE Kate Kripke, LCSW is the founder and director of the Postpartum Wellness Center of Boulder which she founded in 2007 in an effort to bring skilled and appropriate perinatal mental health support to women and families around Boulder County. The PWCB is a multidisciplinary and comprehensive care center focused on maternal and early family mental health. Outside of her work at the PWCB, Kate coordinated a project through Boulder County Public Health that focused on promoting early detection and treatment of postpartum depression; founded and facilitated the Boulder County PMAD task force; served as a state coordinator for Postpartum Support International for a decade; and sits on the Pregnancy-Related Depression State Advisory Committee convened by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. In addition, to her clinical and advocacy work, Kate conducts frequent training on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders at hospitals and health centers for obstetricians, pediatricians, educators, doulas, and nurses. Kate is committed to reducing the stigma and shame surrounding postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). Learn more at pwcboulder.com and follow Kate on Instagram @pwcboulder.
