"All kids need is a little help, a little hope, and someone who believes in them."- Magic Johnson In this episode, Dr. Baker shares her perspective and highlights: The challenges that a neurodiverse learner may face and how to support a neurodiverse child She covers some neurodiversity benefits, such as gaining resilience early on in life and creative problem-solving Why it is important to understand behavior as information and a means of communication that children are displaying Dr. Cat Baker founded Florida Children's Institute in 2014 to make a difference for children and families coping with a wide range of behavior issues and learning disabilities. In spite of having ADHD, Dyslexia, and Anxiety, Dr. Baker earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Florida, an M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis & Developmental Disabilities from Auburn University, a B.S. in Psychology from the University of North Florida, and a B.S. in Health & Exercise Science from Wake Forest University. She is passionate about helping children and families who "don't fit in the box" or who have "brains that work differently" to reach their potential because of her own personal experience. When she's not working, she loves spending time with her son, John David, camping and hiking, going to the beach, and watching college basketball.
