It’s finally happened! After months of stress, anxiety, re-writes, a bunch of spiralling and a raft of undocumented side quests, Em has finally stepped up to the podium at the National Press Club in Canberra to deliver her “historic” address. You’ll find out who named it “historic” and also get an inside feel for how Em was feeling on the morning of her speech. Once Michael arrived in Canberra they sat down to talk about as many things as they could think of to distract Em before the Press Club address, which means we got to hear a smidge about the behind the scenes happenings of Em’s upcoming appearance on Season 2 of Michael’s TV series ‘The Newsreader’. We also found time to reflect on the loss of the wonderfully talented Margaret Urlich and process the upsetting news that Em’s idol, John Peter Farnham, has endured a marathon surgery to remove a cancer tumour from his mouth. Finally we follow all that up with Em’s full speech from the podium at the National Press Club, plus Em and Michael recorded a special chat directly after she stepped off stage to reflect how she was feeling once it was all done.
