How do we broach the topic of boys with our young girls? Girls are going to like boys. It is completely natural, and we should encourage our girls to like the right kind of boys. But instead, more often than not, we tease and ridicule our young heroes for something that should be encouraged. We say things like "you can't date until you're 30" or "I'm going to meet him at the door with a shotgun".
