Well a lot of the conversation have has been about Jose Mourinho and basically him controlling the narrative and in the press conference deflecting attention away from his team's performance onto the uh episodes in which he thinks or the situations that could have been or should have been red cards in his mind. Well this is Typical Jose Mourinho. This is old school Jose Mourinho. While he may not be yelling and screaming, while this may be the mellow version of Mourinho, is still very much Captain Deflecto. What I saw from Real Madrid prior to the red car by Hausen is a team that was very passive in the second half. The game was there to be won at halftime. And yet his team did not respond coming out of halftime.
Now I think Joseph Mourinho doesn't want to have this conversation. He doesn't want these questions. And so that's why even before anybody asks any question in the press conference, he's controlling the narrative. And let's make it about this pictures, let's make it about this visual evidence, let's make it about this, and let's not talk about the actual game and why our team our team is coming up short. That I think is the problem here. But we should not be surprised. The issues that we're seeing from Real Madrid now are issues that we saw last season. Yeah. And they linger, linger and linger and Mourinho is yet to address them.
Gab, what did you make of it all?
No, I I I I I like I like I mean Ali's right. Uh the the this is this is a playbook. It's not just Mourinho who uses it, although he's used it um, he's raised it to an art form. Um Real Madrid did not play well. They did not, you know, in the second half, you know, Heysen gets sent off, I think, minute fifty-two. So, you know, uh Real Madrid were were were passive, they were unimpressive. But that doesn't change the fact that he was on the receiving end of a very bad referee decision. Two in his view. I mean, one we can debate how bad it was, but you know, the the the the Kenan Lee Valverde incident, you know, is is is very very clear. And so I can understand how after the game you're gonna point to that because you can say, hey, I had a game plan here.
Yeah, we were gonna slow it down. Down, not do much, uh try to remain solid, and we did. And then we were gonna steal something, you know, nick a goal on the break because we have these fast guys up front and at some point Atlantic or Romero would have done something stupid or whatever.
