Everyday Ultra

Tips for Running a 100 Mile Ultra

14 Apr 2022

Description

The 100-mile distance is the gold standard for ultra runners. And chances are if you are in the ultra endurance world, you've probably thought about completing one (if you haven't already).  So, in this episode, I'm breaking down all of the tips that helped me finish my 100 mile race, along with all of the things I WISH I would have known before going into the race - so you don't make the same mistakes that I did. In this episode, I'll cover what to do the week before a 100 miler, how to approach pacing, strategies for drop bags and aid stations, tips to keep your mind in a strong place, and some crazy things you'll have to watch out for. I'll also be covering my experience through my first 100 mile race at the Zion 100 in detail, so you can get a firsthand look into what an 100 mile race looks like from the perspective of the runner. Enjoy the episode, and go crush your 100 miles! If you'd like any additional insight that I didn't cover in this episode, shoot me a DM on Instagram @joecorcione and I'll be happy to help. Also, here is the episode where I cover nutrition in detail, which is the same strategy I used for my 100 mile race: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4Lg3HKSi4cXib79YSqTdLy?si=908c56d259114a91
