The pull allows the barbell to gain velocity and travel high enough for the weightlifter to get under. It is a complex movement with distinctive phases. The debate over how each phase influences the outcome of the lift is still ongoing. In this interview, Tavor Ben-Zeev discusses his recent study on how different phases of the pull may possibly correlate with weightlifting performance (total). Tavor is a Ph.D. student in exercise physiology at Ariel University, Israel. His research focuses on sports performance and the physiology behind anabolic steroids. Tavor is also a weightlifting coach.Enjoy!Original research paper:Ben-Zeev T, Sadres E, Hoffman JR.
