Chapter 1: Where is this special Mother's Day episode recorded?
Welcome back to another episode of Excuse My Grandma. It's Kim and my co-host, Grandma Gail. So as you guys can tell, if you are watching the episode, we are not in our typical setting. We're in the Spotify offices here in New York recording our pod for this very special Mother's Day episode. Exactly. Grandma is very thrown off by the new setting.
I'm thrown off by the new setting because usually the cameras are in front and I can see if my hair is out of place. But now, whatever it is, you'll see me au naturel.
Well, you look the same.
No. Sometimes it's a little bit different.
It's actually funny. I had no idea you stared at yourself while we recorded. I did. And that you always listen back to our episodes.
I always do.
I cannot do that.
I like to listen because I like to hear how stupid we sometimes are. Okay. Speak for yourself. So I actually sometimes think to myself, oh, I shouldn't have said that or, oh, I wish I had said that. Yeah. I don't listen to the whole thing necessarily.
You know what? Everyone has their different craft. Like if you are better by re-listening to yourself, love that for you, I think I would pick apart every – because I already edit a lot of our stuff.

Chapter 2: What topics will be covered in this Mother's Day special?
Wait, am I that predictable? I thought I hadn't given you a frame.
But I like that. Oh. No, I got one with sparkles last year in my wedding dress. That was a few years ago. I don't know. I keep them all over. This one's right near my bed. I love it. Good. It's a beautiful one we took in Florida. It's from Truly Gifted.
And they have a lot of very customizable gift options, which is great, cards, everything.
So things are so much easier. That's the one thing I have to say. You can do everything on your phone or on your computer. I'm not so good at that, but you are very good, and my husband is very good. Excellent. And, of course, your mother, I don't think she ever walks into a store, including a grocery store anymore. She orders everything online. On Instacart, yeah. Yeah.
Question, and we'll get to this later, I have more questions about this, but would you get your daughter, my mom, a Mother's Day gift for being a mom, or do you only get your mom a Mother's Day gift?
Usually it's just your mom. Or if your daughter just became a mom, then I think it's definitely appropriate to give it. Usually I don't give my daughter or my daughter-in-law a gift.
The gift is me. I keep giving. Yeah, true. I think if you're a mom, you don't have to get anyone else a gift. Right, exactly. But what about if you're a husband or a dad?
Well, I was going to say, you know, it's so interesting. I thought of that on the way here today. My dad used to always, when we were younger, when the children are younger. used to always give my mother a little piece of jewelry. Whether it was real costume jewelry or real jewelry, it had beautiful taste.
And I was thinking to myself when I was watching the Met thing with all the little brooches on everybody's lapel, I've got to go look in the drawer and see if I can find some of those.

Chapter 3: How do Kim and Grandma Gail celebrate Mother's Day and gift-giving traditions?
We didn't have that.
Yeah.
What's making you feel sad is too bad and get over it.
Yeah. I was just watching.
And I'm not sure it's better now. I actually think that's a problem. I really do. I think it makes weaker people. I don't know. I don't think so. I think I would definitely go the gentle parenting route. You are going to be definitely a gentle parent.
But I was just watching Meet the Parents.
Oh, that was so funny.
And the De Niro character had the nanny cam and was like, we have to just let him cry. That's how he's going to learn how to be self-sufficient. And then Barbra Streisand and, oh my God, Dustin Hoffman were sneaking in and giving him chocolates and stuff. So there are different parenting styles.
Absolutely. And nothing is wrong and nothing is right.
