He's come all the way from Wexford today to sit down across from me and... I suppose I really wanted to kind of just start by saying the loss that you've experienced has been really recent. And so we'll get into that a little bit as well. But I was just actually thinking about it this morning that up until October, I suppose, your life was quite normal, inverted commas. So it was only very, very recent. So, you know, everyone has their own phase of grief. It could be 10 years later, it could be 10 months. So You know, I think with you today, it's, as I said, it's so raw, so recent. There's a lot of things that have happened, haven't happened, that have yet to unfold. Again, we'll get into all of that.
But most importantly, you're here to speak about your wife, Claire.
Yeah.
You met Claire in 2012. Will you tell me about the day that you met her or where did you meet her?
We were both at a party. It was a mutual friend of ours. It was actually the Maybank holiday weekend just gone, so that would have been 14 years. Wow. Where was the party? Well, once I walked into the party, I noticed her straight away. Did you? Yeah. And just as the night went on, then we kind of got talking and we had a little kiss and... That was kind of it, really, for that night. But we swapped numbers and Claire was texting me the following day and I was texting her. And we just kind of kept in contact, texting each other every day.
Yeah.
And then I arranged then to go down and call down to her. She was living in Wexford at the time, so... So, yeah, I was living in Lucan at the time. And so we arranged and I went down to meet her. Then we went out and we just hit it off from there.
What was she like as a character? Like, was she lively or?
Oh, she was mad as a brush. Was she? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now, the first... Yeah, in a really good sense, yeah. No, she was... Definitely. She had like a kind of hard exterior, but like once she got talking to her and you knew her, like she's really sweet, really soft and loving person as well.
