How did Sali Christeson transition from tech to founding Argent?
Getting to ten million is an art. It's about longevity of the brand and it's about brand building, which does not always go hand in hand with revenue driver.
Hello and welcome back to Fashion and Founders the podcast. My name is Victoria Smith, and this week I'm joined by Sally Christensen, the founder of Argent. She has such an interesting story of founding a fashion brand. She raised venture capital money, launched at a conference, and is really focused on the function in fashion. If you haven't heard of Argent, they are redefining workwear and really trying to show up for women in the workplace throughout their entire career. They've been worn by some incredible women like Kate Hudson, Your Rich BFF, and many more. Something that really stood out to me in this episode was that Sally had such a strong mission and why for founding this. And how we often see people with strong missions go.
Into government or go into nonprofit, but she chose business and how a successful, strong business and money truly gives you a different type of power and platform to make the impact you want to have. If you're looking to start something and you don't want a side hustle, she is all about making a big impact. And I think has really good insights on what that actually means when you've been running a business for over five years, for over 10 years. What does longevity look like? It was so great to learn from Sally. And if you're able to leave the podcast a rating and review and follow the show, it really helps the podcast grow more than you would think and helps us continue to get incredible guests like Sally.
So let's get into the episode. Argent is really known for their suits, but I was really impressed by the selection that they have beyond that. I have fewer occasions where I think I'm expected in like a full suit, but I've really been trying to build my wardrobe with pieces that I can wear to a professional setting and then restyle for a dinner or a different type of event. The top I'm wearing in this episode is from Argent. And I love the color, this like cranberry, raspberry. And they also have a lot of silk pieces and this a hundred percent silk top. Guys, they have one in ice blue. Okay. And for 100% silk, $150 is a pretty decent price. Other places are charging you like $100 for polyester. They have some beautiful skirts and dresses that if you're looking for something professional but a little bit more casual, I think they have some really beautiful pieces.
And Argent definitely starts at a higher price point. So if you want to try it out before purchasing, they Have some pieces available on Rent the Runway. And past listeners know that you can get 50% off your membership with my code. And it's actually 60% off through the end of April. So definitely get that before April 30th. I love using Rent the Runway. It just actually helped me save money on clothing. And it's less of a thing in my mind because I know I have this rotating. Closet depending on occasion, depending on the season or trends. And I have less of that kind of urge to shop. You can use code in all caps RTRX V Smith50 to get your first month for $50. Such a good deal. And this week's brand highlight is Alexandra Madison.
They make such cool jewelry, very personalized a lot with your name, your initials. I think they're really well known for their Lariat name necklace, which is so amazing to be styled with like a halter neck top. I think these are really unique and would be such a good gift. I have one. It's just so fun. Like you might have seen some of their pieces on Hannah Lizzie, Alex Earl. I would definitely go check them out. Hi Sally. Hi Victoria. I'm so excited to have you on the podcast.
Thank you for having me. As I mentioned when I stepped in, the studio is amaz. It's really pretty. It's my favorite.
It's beautiful. And I'm really excited to learn more about Argent, because it's really like a fashion brand I haven't seen before, the way you guys started, have been operating it. So I'm really curious about how you got here.
