Welcome back to Father Knows Something! Real People. Real Stories. Real Dad advice with a dash of ADHD, and maybe a couple of millennials chiming in from time to time to add their takes. This week's episode features write-ins from listeners who sparked the idea, "Is failing sometimes good.. is it necessary in some cases?" Whether it's trying to leave a relationship that isn't healthy or maybe just getting your partner to let you sleep better.. we question whether letting it fail is the best solution. BUT we need you all to chime in and help get our writers the very vest advice.. See you in the comments
Chapter 1: What is the theme of today's episode?
Father knows something.
And what did father always say to you when it came to this thing?
I don't know. I don't know.
Father said.
It's early. It's 9 a.m. right now.
Father said, pause, just, you know, think about it and come back. He said, no, I'm done. I bought it. I go.
Well, that was already, it was too late at that point. I put 65% down and it's not refundable. she gone yeah well but it's all good but I in a sense I think I failed up you know It's an outcome I didn't expect. Maybe, you know, it panicked me in the moment, but at the end of the day, it is going to be really, really good. I failed up.
So here's what's going to happen, girls and boys out there. She's going to use this beautiful dress. We're going to vacuum seal it in nitrogen.
Oh, okay.

Chapter 2: Is failing necessary for growth?
I am letting you know that that is the last time you're going to see these glasses because we got new ones. New glasses came. I don't like that. Yeah, we're going to have- Is your prescription worse? No, we actually got rid of the prescription. I had changed, but I actually changed the frames to some whole new look. So say goodbye to these and we got new ones coming.
I don't know if I like that.
Well, too bad. They're gone.
New Jerry, I guess.
We all move on. We all make choices and decisions. Love you all.

Chapter 6: What does it mean to fail upwards?
I go on conscience, Morgan.
I see red.
I mean, you guys are obviously not in a place of meeting of the minds. No. And that is really important. Remember, I'll never forget the conversation. I've mentioned this before in my grandmother conversation. That happened in 1986. And she said, I don't care what you marry, who you marry, religion, race, sexuality, none of the above.
The only thing that I really hope that you find is a meeting of the minds.
It's very important. And I look at this and I do think, you know, people can have different political views when it comes to budgeting or, you know, things like that. But when it comes to whether people deserve to be treated as humans, that's where I'm going to say, no, you can't have differing views. If you have someone that you're questioning, are you racist? No.
that is not someone you want to be with.
This is the root value of who they are and how they're going to even see you and treat you.
And I just think, I mean, yeah, you put misogyny as well. I mean, overall, these are things that I don't think you can get past. I think you really got to Move past this person and really start building a home, a community, a group of friends that do align with you like me and my friends.
We align on political stuff and I really I would struggle if we didn't like me and Lauren will text and we'll send stuff back and forth and we kind of stress out together. And having that safe place, like I can go to her, we can talk about these things and we don't agree on everything, but we can have a conversation that's civil and be like, oh, I totally see where you're coming from on that.
