Hosted by David and Nycci Nellis. On today’s show: • In a city of a thousand and one pizza places, how does one achieve superstar status? Andrew Dana (a.k.a. Dough Boy), founder of D.C.’s Timber Pizza Co., joins us; • Texas de Brazil in D.C.’s Mount Vernon Triangle is recognized for its unique blend of Brazilian culture and fare complemented by the generous hospitality of Texas. We’ll be joined by Texas de Brazil’s event manager, Courtney Bond, to hear all about it; • What?! More pizza talk? You bet – Chef Daniele Catalani cut his teeth with James Beard Award-winning chef Roberto Donna. Since then Daniele has gone on to his own fame and fortune and now has his own place, Cucina Al Volo, where the pizzas are sublime. Daniele joins us with even more carbs on hand; • One of America’s most successful annual fundraisers is one many people around here are not aware of, because it happens on the Left Coast. Since its inception the Sonoma County Wine Auction has raised more than $29 million to support community organizations focused on literacy, education, health and human services, the environment and arts and culture. Last October this California county was affected by the wildfires. Over 5000 homes were lost and over 100 businesses also, so this year’s event is especially meaningful.. We have George Hamel of Sonoma’s Hamel Family Wines on the phone to give us all the event details and to tell you how you can get involved; • Restarauteur Hakan Ilhan’s Mirabelle is on everyone’s list as one of D.C.’s finest restaurants. One reason? An amazing wine list, crafted by Mirabelle’s general manager and beverage director, Jennifer Knowles. She’s in with tastes and talk of all the many delicious treats to be found there.
