Democrats blame Republicans for refusing to accept partial Homeland Security funding. This has ICE agents now help to fill gaps in TSA staffing.

The man accused of killing Loyola University freshman Sheridan Gorman in Chicago due in court facing multiple felony charges, including murder.
At this point, it appears this was completely random. No known connections between Sheridan and the shooter, who is a 25-year-old Venezuelan named Jose Medina. He was apprehended by Border Patrol and released into the country by the Biden administration in May of 2023.
From there, he made his way to the sanctuary city of Chicago, where a month later, he was arrested for shoplifting and listed a nearby migrant shelter as his address. The judge released him on bail, and then he never showed up again to face those charges. He's had an outstanding arrest warrant ever since.

A damaged Air Canada jet remains on a runway at New York's LaGuardia Airport after hitting a fire truck when it landed late last night, killing the pilots, injuring more than 40 other people. The FAA and the NTSB are investigating a ground stop remains in effect. The fire truck had been en route to an issue involving another aircraft.
There was a temporary ground stop early today at New Jersey's Newark Airport.
It was a burning smell and a buildup of smoke in the air traffic control tower at Newark Liberty International Airport that halted planes headed in and out. Federal Aviation Administration staff determined there were no flames, but flight control operations had to be temporarily moved to another location for the duration of the ground stop. which was less than an hour.
Operations have since returned to the control tower. The Monday incident came three days after another ground stop at Newark because of what the FAA said was high occupancy and longer-than-usual wait times inside the airport.
