The director of public safety for Bent Salem Police, she announced that there is no threat to the public that the freight cars, 16 cars that derailed out of a 72 car train are okay. There were a few of those cars that did have hazardous materials in them, but they were checked out and they did not leak. So the evacuation order and the shelter in place for the immediate area has now been lifted. The Ben Salem director of public safety says that they received a call about the derailment. Police, fire, EMS and hazmat responded, assessed the situation and deemed it safe for the public.
