The Pentagon puts soldiers on alert. I'm Carmen Roberts, Fox News. Defense officials confirmed the Pentagon is readying 1,500 soldiers for deployment to Minnesota in response to widespread anti-ice protests. Republican Senator Bill Hagerty tells Fox News protesters are to blame.
And what you have is bedlam in the streets. You have citizens driving into ICE agents. You have non-citizens, people here illegally, trying to attack ICE agents. And you have somehow these protesters advocating for the illegal people here, the ones that are criminals. Seventy percent of these people that they're arresting are criminals.
Minnesota Mayor Jacob Fry says that it would be a shocking move if President Trump invokes the Insurrection Act and sends U.S. troops to the city.
He tells CNN... There's a very clear antidote here, which is leave. The second these ICE agents leave the city, I'm telling you, you're going to have calm in Minneapolis.
Meantime, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has mobilized state National Guard troops for deployment if needed to help support local law enforcement. Republicans are divided over President Trump's threat to take possession of Greenland.
Republican Congressman Randy Fine has a bill that would set the stage for President Trump to annex Greenland. Other Republicans are pushing back. saying a purchase would be expensive and the U.S. already has a military base on the island. GOP Congressman Don Bacon says taking it by force would probably be the end of the Trump presidency. In Washington, Ryan Schmelz, Fox News.
