The president's decision to replace Kristi Noem at Homeland Security was a combination of many unfortunate leadership failures, a source tells Fox News, listing controversies over the surge of immigration agents in Minnesota and allegations of an affair. Noem appeared at a pair of Capitol Hill hearings this week and faced bipartisan criticism.
GOP lawmakers honing in on a more than $200 million ad campaign. Noem told lawmakers President Trump signed off on the ads, which featured her. But the president told Reuters he did not approve of the ad. President Trump is nominating Oklahoma Republican Senator Mark Wayne Mullen to succeed Noem at the end of the month. At the White House, Jared Halpern, Fox News.
Now the Senate must confirm Mark Wayne Mullen, but Fox's Chad Pergram says it's unclear if Democrats will support him.
John Fetterman, the Democratic senator from Pennsylvania, indicates that he would vote yes, even though he thought a lot of fellow Democrats would vote no. I pressed Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic leader here in the House. He said we want to kind of see how this plays out. But the other thing I then followed up on.
was does this make a difference in the Homeland Security Department shutdown over ICE? At some point, Jeffries had said, you know, that we need to have a personnel change. And he said, OK, we do have a personnel change now, but that personnel change is not sufficient. He said he still needs to see these policy changes with ICE.
Jeffrey's adding ICE agents must conduct themselves like other law enforcement agents in the U.S. and stop brutalizing and killing Americans. In a major county, Oklahoma, Thursday night, a mother and daughter killed after the vehicle they were in was apparently hit by a tornado. A tornado touching down near State Highway 60 and 243. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continuing to investigate.
