Chapter 1: What happened in the deadly crash at LaGuardia Airport?
This is a Fox News alert. A deadly crash at a New York City airport on the ground. I'm Dave Anthony. An Air Canada Express jet flying in from Montreal collided with a fire truck right after landing at LaGuardia a little before midnight. Sadly, the two pilots are confirmed deceased. Port Authority Executive Director Catherine Garcia says 41 others in the flight were taken to hospitals.
Two on the truck were also hurt.
That Air Canada Express plane on the tarmac with its snows completely torn off and nearby, there appears to be the overturned, damaged Port Authority fire truck.
Fox's CB Cotton in LaGuardia. That truck appears to have had clearance to cross the runway, then was told to stop just as the plane approached. LaGuardia is closed now. No flights coming or going till at least 2 p.m. Eastern, adding to the air travel issues at many airports with long security lines, with TSA agents being unpaid because Homeland Security is unfunded.
Some aren't showing up, and now the Trump administration plans to send immigration agents to help. Fox's Grinnell Scott has more.
Border Czar Tom Homan said on Fox News Sunday, ICE can help keep order when travelers wrongly access checkpoints. An ICE agent can maintain those exits, and that allows a TSA officer to go back to screening to move people through quicker. Democratic Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut on NBC's Meet the Press said his party is willing to reopen TSA, but Republicans say no.
As he sees it, they want to hold TSA hostage so that they can continue getting Democrats to fund the illegality happening at ICE.
The clock keeps ticking on a new ultimatum for Iran to allow oil shipping in a waterway.
President Trump over the weekend laying out a new deadline for the Iranians to open the Strait of Hormuz. That deadline does expire tonight. And there are questions about whether or not the United States and Israel will strike the Iranian power grid.
