Two deadly shootings remain under investigation involving immigration enforcement. The first one was in Texas last week involving a white van with people here illegally inside that the Trump administration alleges have been weaponized by the driver. Here's U.S. Attorney Aaron Reitz. During this confrontation between federal agents and a group of illegal aliens attempting to flee, one of the officers fired a single shot. Well, the man killed was not the target of the enforcement operation. That's the same for the Colombian man killed this week in the other shooting in Maine.

Close relatives say ICE officer and Army veteran David Brouillette should never have been given a badge and gun to patrol American streets, according to reporting from the Associated Press. Brouillette is accused of shooting 25-year-old Johann Sebastian Duran Guerrero on Monday while in his car near his home in Maine. Homeland Security officials say he fired shots because he feared for public safety. Family members say Brouillette's history of violent behavior includes attacking women in his life. The incident reiterates questions over how thoroughly ICE recruits are vetted. At least 10 people have died in encounters with ICE agents since President Trump launched his immigration crackdown after returning to office.
