The U.S. will release 172 million barrels of that from the strategic petroleum reserves. The president also talked politics in Kentucky, throwing his support behind the challenger of one of his critics.

Cedric Ricks died by lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and his teenage daughter tested out pistols during an inspection of a munitions factory. That's according to state media.

Alberto Carvalho, the suspended Los Angeles school superintendent, is asking to be returned to his position, according to a statement released by his attorneys, who say he has, quote, always acted in the best interest of students.
Carvalho, who has led the district since 2022, was placed on administrative leave last month following the raid when he and his wife were handcuffed and placed in the back of a car while FBI agents searched their home, taking computers, cell phones and other items. The search warrants were sealed and the government has not given details on the nature of the investigation.

The sentencing for actor Nathan Chasing Horse following his conviction on sexual assault charges delayed by a week. He faces a minimum of 25 years in prison for his conviction of sexual assault on indigenous women and girls. A judge is allowing actor Shia LaBeouf to travel overseas in between court dates.
