What insights does Jordan Raanan share from the NFL Owners Meetings?

Jordan Raanan 0:03
Welcome everyone to Breaking Big Blue Times Giants Nation show live from Phoenix, Arizona.

What are the implications of Odell Beckham's potential reunion with the Giants?

Jordan Raanan 0:10
Here we are at the league meetings. You can see the very tropical background, the trees behind me.

How is Steve Tisch's role evolving within the Giants organization?

Jordan Raanan 0:17
Appreciate everybody coming out. I think this is sort of like our trademark now, like we have to start a couple minutes late. Like that's the brand, at least that's my brand here. boomer-esque, unable to sign on, get everything looking good. Here we are. So now that I filibustered for a minute here, appreciate everybody for coming on. We'll get to Bobby in a few minutes.

What does Joe Schoen's press conference reveal about the team's strategy?

Jordan Raanan 0:41
What I'm going to do is kind of just going to empty the notebook because the reality is everything we hear and everything that went on and we heard about at the press conferences is We don't get to just regurgitate everything. So most of it has gotten out. But I think there's other little things that maybe I have in notebook that we can bring here and we'll get to that in a minute. First, we'll start with the Odell stuff because that seems to be the biggest thing right now. Everybody's all, you know, should they sign Odell? Should they not? he came to visit here at the hotel where all the owners are. Met with some of the Giants people, John Harbaugh included. Obviously said hello to the Mara family, the Giants ownership as he was here as well.

How are the Giants addressing their offensive and defensive line needs?

Jordan Raanan 1:29
This was a pre-planned Odell thing to try to get in front of the Giants and John Harbaugh as far as I know. State his case. Obviously he made it pretty well known he wants to be with the Giants. There's nothing imminent. From what I've been told, we'll see what happens. I do think it's a possibility we see at some point Odell Beckham in a workout. Because you have to remember, he did not play last year. And this is not Odell in his prime. We have to be fair and honest. This is a different version of what Odell Beckham is. And so...

What are the key takeaways regarding the team's future direction?

Jordan Raanan 2:07
He didn't play last year. Teams are going to want to see where he's at for themselves. The flag football thing was one thing, but they want to see where he is in regards to being able to play NFL football. And we'll get to that probably... Maybe he'll end up with a workout moving forward. I think that's a definite possibility.

What updates are there on Jermaine Eluemunor's injury status?

Jordan Raanan 2:29
But I think in Joe Shane's probably with a player in his situation, it would be a workout of some sort.

What does the Giants' draft strategy look like ahead of Pick #5?

Jordan Raanan 2:35
And then, you know, it's again, it's does. And I mentioned this last time. Is it does John Harbaugh want to have Odell Beckham on his team? Right. Does he want because this is is he good with him in a fourth receiver role or whatever the role may be a supplemental? complimentary type role. So doors not shut on that. It's to be determined, but also not anywhere close to that happening. So the other thing is very quiet. on the Steve Tisch front here in Arizona. As a matter of fact, as far as, and the yesterday, my understanding is it wasn't even brought up in the meetings with the owners. So we'll see where that goes. There's still another day of meetings today. See if anything comes out of that. So we'll circle back on that in the next few days, few weeks.
Jordan Raanan 3:28
Um, Giants, John Harbaugh and Joe Shane made it clear they are a work in progress, okay? And both of them noted they're not done, and they know they need to add reinforcements on the offensive and defensive line. What that is, we will find out. I think it was Joe Shane who actually said it. No, it might have been John Harbaugh. We'll see. There's still a bunch of different ways to add players in regards to any mentioned free agency still, right? There's some guys out there. There's the draft, and there's also trades. So it did make me think that by the time we're all said and done here, I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants answer to the offensive-defensive line holes that they have that one of them comes from a potential trade.
Jordan Raanan 4:27
So we'll, we'll see how that goes. Clearly though, they want to add to the offensive defensive line. Greg Van Roten didn't seem like anything. They were super close or, You know, pushing to get done seems to be on the back burner in regards to right guard, but they have an opening in right guard.
