Why did the hosts travel and what sets up this training camp episode?
Almost heaven, West Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze. Country roads take me home to the place I belong. West Virginia.
Welcome to Giants Nation. I'm your host, Bobby Skinner, here with my co-host, the football grump. And it's a very important week, not because Grump's getting married, but because it's New York Giants training camp 2026. I'm in West Virginia. Grump's in New Jersey. What a week. I literally finished a 16-hour drive, which included having to turn back around for 30 minutes and sitting, literally being able to stand outside my vehicle on the highway for two hours. Grump, how are you today as we get training camp ready to go?
I think I'm possibly in a little bit better of a mood than you are. But I think that we're both pretty equally amped for training camp to start right now. I mean, we've spent way too much time talking over dead football air about all the things that could be. And this is the week where we start seeing things start to happen. So I'm really amped for the start of 2026 Giants camp.
Dude, me too. Like I said, I'm in West Virginia. I still haven't seen West Virginia in the daylight. I am truly in the middle of nowhere. First Airbnb that actually looked better, looks better than the pictures, which was a very surprise. So some nice West Virginia hospitality, but a long drive up and we're going to get into these camp position battles here in a second. And then Patricia Train will join us for a quick interview. I'm going to be at, I believe, five practices in West Virginia. Did apply for credentials. Didn't get a response back until literally today of being denied. I got pretty mad about it, but I calmed myself down after like 10 hours of driving grump where I'm like, you know what?
People don't follow us just for training camp stuff. I love training camp. It kills me inside to not be able to watch every practice because I enjoy it so much as I think it's just pure football. But if that's what it is, that's what it is. I can't go kick. I'm not going to kick and scream too much against it. Maybe there's ways we can work around it and year and future years. But I just like I had a moment of acceptance like this. It is what it is. This is just the way it's going to be. No matter how legit DNS is, it is what it is. But I am excited for this training camp. Get some camp position battles won. See how Malik Neighbors looks, how Jackson Dart looks in the new offense. I'm going to be charting formations and stuff.
I want to see how Arvel Reese is being used. There's a lot. And just seeing what a John Harbaugh training camp looks like. There's a lot to be jacked up for in this training camp, Grump.
Oh my God. There's so much due to me. We have new coaching staff. You have the whole new offense install. What does Greg Roman's run fronts look like? What do Matt Nagy's deep shots look like on offense? How do they deploy Jackson dart? What are they doing with Patrick Burkhardt? That's interesting and fun. Where are they lining up Isaiah likely? That's just the offensive side of the ball. The defense. I mean, you have a whole new defensive coordinator and how guys fit into that and how different it looks and what different fronts and stunts they do. Uh, there's so much to look at. Like you said, Arbel Reese, where they're going to play him, Abdul Carter, where they're going to play him, our Darius Washington, where they're going to play him, Jason Pinnock, where does he fit?
So I'm excited. I wish I could be at every single practice for every single minute to see the first guy out on the field, just like always the last guy out. Um, I'm a little sad that I'm not going to be there, but, uh, at least you will be.
Yeah. And you're going to have a good wedding this weekend. So excited for that as well, too. All right, let's get into these camp position battles. But first the reason we're at training camp is for you. And the reason why we're able to be here for you is because of body armor.
