He's a massive, massive target for Jackson Dart to see down the field when things are falling apart and breaking down, or if if nobody can get open, this is somebody that you can throw it to even when he's covered and he can make a play. That's sort of His specialty.
Yeah, and if and if we want to like kind of start with some numbers, you know, it's a college player, so you know, we're it's the numbers are less relevant in what we're talking about. But like last year had six hundred and thirty catches on thir or six hundred thirty catches. The guy's the best ever. Uh That's one Dale Robinson on crack. Uh 36 catches, 630 yards, five touchdowns, 17.5 yards per catch, a 58% catch rate. His two years before that of Virginia, both 800 yards, both five touchdowns, 55 and 58 catches, and then 14 yards per catch, almost identical years. Even the catch rate is both 58%. Like he's gonna be a guy who we're looking to get fifteen yards per catch and create explosives for the Giants. He's gotta get better. We'll talk about it. Like he's gotta get better in some of the basic route running and some of the quick game stuff for him to be someone who's consistently playing. But that's not gonna be like what we're ha putting him on why we're targeting him a ton is for those plays either.
No, and and he wins in in different ways if you look at his film in Notre Dame versus Virginia. And I I think that speaks a little bit to the yardage differences as well. Uh he's big and strong and he dominates at the catch point just generally, right? He wins consistent catches consistently and it makes highlight real catches at times too. Um he has good body control along the sideline as well with his feet. Um at Notre Dame, the routry was essentially going. Curls and I guess like deep posts for the most part. You look at his time in Virginia, and they tried to use him in a myriad of ways. And I don't know, probably something to do with the quarterback arm strength or scheme, but a lot of stuff closer to the line of scrimmage.
Screen passes that he gets a whole bunch of yak. And that's where you can kind of see where he is differently as a player that's or as a player different from the general narrative at draft time, which that he was big and slow and lumbering, and you just kind of chuck. To him, and he's gonna jump up and get it. And that's the league, like you said, the league is going away from that. I think if you look at his Virginia film, you got to see him. where his speed actually is and it's makeup speed. He really gets going and then suddenly he's a gigantic body that's hard to bring down. He has a wicked spin move. He is quick feet in small spaces. So he can make guys miss pretty well.
