Welcome back to the show. I am excited today to share a book review with you from the Baby Steps Millionaire book by Dave Ramsey. And my takeaways from the audiobook version of this that I have in my audiobook collection. Last week on the program, I shared my takeaways from The Millionaire Next Door, which I actually have a paperback version of that book. I've kind of switched my book digestions to audiobook because it's easier for me while I'm out working, while I'm walking, while I'm in the gym, to uh you know, on a car ride to listen to audiobooks. But nevertheless The Millionaire Next Door is a book that we talked about last week. And that book was written in the 1990s. And essentially the takeaway was people who had built margin into their life financially.
They didn't spend all the money they made. And they took that margin and invested it. they became very wealthy. And then the folks who essentially, even if they had a high income, if they spent it all and and and didn't invest, They underachieved financially. And that's like the most abbreviated summary of that book. But anyway, it's a very, very eye-opening book to me to make sure that there's always a gap between my income and my expenditures. And I'm always trying to make my income go high as it, you know, reach my full potential, maximize my earnings. But the trap is as you start earning more money, especially in the spring, if you own a lawn care business, the spring's fun, right? Cause You know, money's being paid, right?
Hopefully you got a job where you got cars on file and you're getting paid. Paid, paid, paid. You're getting making money. The trap is to increase your lifestyle too quickly. And so that's a lot of what we talked about with my book review from The Millionaire Next Door. Fantastic book. And um very eye-opening of the studies that they did of millionaires from the 1990s. These folks drove Toyotas, Ford F-150, just regular cars, and a lot of them had regular jobs. They just really made Sure. Not to spend all their money on lifestyle, but to invest some money. And uh it's a fantastic book. Well anyway, there's been an updated uh
How does Dave Ramsey’s “Baby Steps Millionaire” book differ from “The Millionaire Next Door”?
research on who millionaires really are uh that the Ramsey solutions team put out. That's um Dave Ramsey's um team over in Nashville, Tennessee area. And uh my friend Lamont Harrison's actually been there. He got me a s awesome coffee cup from um their headquarters there. So thank you, Lamont. Who's a friend of the show? And um anyway, the Ramsey team uh they came out with an updated version of who millionaires really are. And Dave Ramsey wrote a book called Baby Steps Millionaires. Basically, if you follow his baby steps to Become wealthy. Inevitably, you're going to become a millionaire. If you live long enough. So Or you just you just follow his plan. So I'm gonna share with you what that plan is and basically do a book review of this book, uh, which is available.
on audio book. As well. So uh before we dive into that, I want to give a quick announcement for the Equip Expo. Um, because uh they have released their hotel block uh for 2026. The Equip Expo is October 20th through 23rd, 2026. And what Equip Expo does is they team up with the Louisville Tourism people. And they have basically discounted room rates at the nice hotels for a very limited time and then once they're gone, they're gone and they go really quickly because The big big pockets, right? The the the the the Toro Company, the John Deere's, the um, you know, all the big companies that are there, you you know who they are. they have a bunch of their employees that they're not putting up in the hand in the um uh the red roof in or the um motel six, right?
