Welcome back to the Green Industry Podcast. I'm your host, Paul Jameson. Let me ask you a hard question today. What are you pouring into your business, your employees, and your family? If you're waking up exhausted, running your routes all day, stressing over equipment breakdowns, coming home completely drained, I'm talking you are tired. You're trying to serve from an empty cup. And when your cup is empty. Everyone around us suffers. Your customers might not get your best effort. Your crew gets frustrated. Your family gets the leftovers of your energy. What if you gave your family the best of you? And not the rest of you. What if you I'm gonna say that again? What if you gave your family Your customers Your team members
The best of you. Instead of the rest of you. That's what we're gonna talk about in today's program. I've looked back on my life And when I have had my cup drained. I was not the best version of myself and everyone around me suffered. And so it's different for each of us. Let's say we have a cup. What drains the cup might be different for you. Than it is for me. There's one customer that I had to fire that comes to mind, but every time I just thought about this guy and I thought about his property. Even if it wasn't honest property, just thinking about it. It drained my energy. And there's other relationships, there's other activities, there's other things that I notice. Drains my energy. And so I have to be mindful of what those energy drainers are, what empties my cup.
And then on the flip side, I need to be understanding of what fills my cup up. Because when our cups are full and we have peace, we have energy, we have an abundance. From that place, then we can be a blessing to our family and friends. We can be a blessing to our customers, and we can be a blessing to our team members. So today on the program, I'm going to start a series here. Um, I've written down so far, then these are personal to me. So your your cup filling up activities might be different, but I've just been jotting down um
Why does running a lawn care business on an empty tank hurt you and your team?
Twenty-seven is what I got my list at now. And I'm I'm I'm thinking of even more ways, but these are to fill my cup up. Now I might do another episode on another day uh 'cause I I also recognize what drains my cup. And I just need to be mindful of those things and I need to be proactive to make sure I'm filling my cup back up. So here's my list. And again, I'm not sure if we'll go through all 27 on today's program, but this has been very helpful for me because recently I had my cup drained. I mean, I was just, I was just Uh stressed out, overwhelmed, feeling sick and tired and and and overwhelmed. Oh and it and I called a friend of mine. You guys know Dr. Frank. Maybe you don't, but the m if you're a newer listener, you might be like, Dr.
Frank, who's Dr. Frank? Paul? Well, he's a a longtime friend of mine.
How can you identify what’s draining your energy as a business owner?
He he lives up in Atlanta. And I called him and I was like, I'm struggling, Frank. I I got myself run down and I kind of know how I got here, but I need I need to get back fast because there's a lot of people counting on me. And I am I'm just Uh I need help. And he He started reminding me of things that he had told me before and I was like, Oh yeah. So one of the things he told me And he didn't tell me all twenty seven things. He just he just shared a a few of them with me. Uh but it's good in the morning. To get sunlight. As soon as you can. And so if you can get outside And Get that you know, watch that sunrise. There's health benefits for that and it helps kind of reset our internal alarm clock to know, okay.
The day starts when the sun comes up.
