Chapter 2: What are the expectations for Manny Malhotra as head coach?
A-Dog, get ready here. For the $50 gift card to White Spot, we're giving away one every day this week. Quality family time isn't always to come by, but it is at White Spot where BC goes for that family feeling.
One more time. One more time. That first part.
Quality family time isn't always easy to come by.
Okay.
But it is at White Spot. What? You missed the easy the first time.
You missed the easy. Haydog and I both looked at each other and were like, that didn't sound right.
That makes it sound worse.
E-card read good.

Chapter 3: How has the Canucks organization changed under new leadership?
Who won this quality family time, which is easy to come by? It's not easy to come by. Isn't always easy to come by, but it's easy to come by at White Spot.
That's what I just said. It's easy to come by at White Spot. Let's get the $50 gift card.
He's being very defensive right now.
Insolent, if you would. Insolent.
The winner is Ben. Congrats to Ben. Nice. Ben's like, I'm definitely not bringing my family. That's some alone time for Ben.
No quality time for me.

Chapter 4: What insights do players provide about the Canucks' environment?
Thank you very much. I was excited because I thought this meant the Pirate Pack Day was coming up.
I know you did.
Which is the best day of the year. Not till August. Alas, it's three months from now. Were they the ones that delivered the... Remember when you had two milkshakes in the morning?
Two milkshakes at nine in the morning.
I don't admit to that.
Let's go now to the Able Auctions Hotline. Our next guest is a presentation of White Rock Hyundai. It's Kevin Woodley here on the Halford & Breff Show on Sportsnet 650. What up, Kev?

Chapter 5: How does the ice quality impact player performance in Vancouver?
What do you want clarification on? Do I go by myself if I win that gift card? Is it a family thing? You've got me all mixed up. Family time. What was your favorite? I was a Grills and Greens guy after we grew up. They still have that? The deep fried zucchini where you pretend that that was your vegetable and it was healthy, but it was Oh, that was good.
One, they're called Zoo Sticks. Two, they're great. You can still get the grill and greens. You have to ask for it, though. Or you can get a Western.
Chapter 6: What are the implications of the Canucks' draft strategy?
For the old guys.
Yeah, I think it's a Western plate.
You get some onion rings there?
Yeah. Well, there's onion in there, you know. That's another healthy one. But yeah, so the tagline is supposed to be family time is hard to come by. except when you win the $50 gift card to White Spot because you bring your family and you have a good time. Then it's easy to come by. Except in the case of Ben, who apparently is not going to bring his family. Anyway, Kev.
Or Adog would just go by himself and drink milkshake. Is that wrong? A little bit. No, not really.

Chapter 7: What challenges does the team face during the World Cup?
Okay, we wanted to start with a conversation we had right off the hop of the show this morning. Are you expecting that Manny Malhotra will be finally, finally named head coach of the Vancouver Canucks this week? I think, what did we put, the Wednesday?
Yeah, Wednesday's our deadline for if he's not named by Wednesday, then we start making up stuff.
I'm hopeful that it's before Wednesday because I leave Wednesday for Tofino. So it'd be nice if we got that done before then. But honestly, if it's not, if it takes longer... I don't know that we panic and start to think this isn't happening or there's, you know, some holdup over him wanting to get paid properly.
And this team's past reluctance to do so, uh, with head coaches, like maybe they're building on a staff. Maybe they want to announce this all at once. Like, like I think it'll get quieter around this team with the new people at the top compared to how it was before. And if having patients as, as much as our side does not want to have patients, um, We might have to get used to it.
And if it takes a little time for Manny to build out a staff, if that's what's going on, I'm not saying that's what's going on, but I can live with it. I can live with this new world.

Chapter 8: What final thoughts do the hosts share about the Canucks' future?
I think I've talked to a lot of players who came back with visiting teams after being part of this organization in the last four years. And several of them talked about when I talked about the noise and the difficulty of playing here because of the quote unquote noise, several of them pointed specifically to the outgoing president of hockey operations as a source of that noise, right?
Like they specifically said it like they, they, they flat out said it coming back as, and that's going to change. Like, I think this is a good thing long run, even if it fuels us,
a lot less right like it fuels the you know the sports talk and and and fills a lot less blogs and hey i get paid by the story at nhl.com so jim rutherford was a dream come true right but um i you know i just think that right down at the player level and i don't know if it was that hey the guys in the room aren't willing to say that until they're out of the room and on another team
or maybe there was a lack of awareness about sort of the true nature of where a lot of this stuff came from until they got to another. I'm not sure which, what the case is, but when you have multiple players point specifically to one person when talking about the noise, like I think it's a good thing that they're turning it down.
What else, what else did players say about the organization when they came back? Well, I gotta be careful here. That's why I asked you the question.
Yeah. Yeah. It put me in a spot.
Um,
You know, I think some of it was echoed in that athletic poll to agents about resources. You know, for sure. And I'll be honest with you, the guys that came into town and were surprised to find out there wasn't a practice facility after signing with the team and would express that, but off the record, even when they were here. You know, that's definitely one of them.
Just that, you know, overall lack of of resources in terms of tools for them to get better compared to, and you're mostly dealing with UFAs and guys who are signing and that have been in other organizations versus young guys that know what it looks like elsewhere. The tools for them to build their game and get better and stay healthy don't match the the standards of a lot of other NHL teams.
