Welcome everyone. So this very unpredictable year of football continues. We're going to have an unexpected final. I think we can say that much. So what, six o'clock Saturday week, 11th. We'll have Mayo against Loud and then Kerry Dublin the next day. And who knows what's going to happen after another brilliant weekend of football. The quarterfinals more than delivered. We had on Saturday, Kerry 225, Tyrone 27 points. That four point margin, very deceptive. Mayo beat Cork by five in the end. Convincing winners in the end. Cork disappointing. And then yesterday, loud. 14 men loud, really, from the seventh, eighth minute. 27 points to Monaghan's 2.18. Two-point win for them. And then a brilliant game between Dublin and Galway, which Dublin won by four in the end, having been down by six points with 13 minutes to go.
So... No Ulster team in the semis. Two Leinster teams, one Munster and Kerry. And I think about a month ago, if you've said of Galway, Roscommon and Mayo, who's going to be in the semifinal? It would not have been Mayo.
What were the weekend's big quarter-final results and who reached the semi-finals?
So that's where we are. Our GA coverage is sponsored by AIB, proud sponsors of the All-Ireland Football Championship. AIB know the support of backroom teams can have a real impact and that behind every county are those who lift us all. Here in studio, there in Crowe Park for all four games yesterday. Conor McKeown. Family man that he is. We have Philly McMahon. Philly. I'm not saying that. Come on.
I'm not saying that today.
Come on. They're so back. Or as Will kept asking earlier, were they ever away? And Colm Keyes with us. Colm. Another great weekend. A little repetitive. We can start every Monday GAA slot with, well, that was another good weekend.
I think it's rapidly becoming the best we've seen, certainly in modern times. I thought last year was magnificent, and you list all the great games, and there's less games this year than last year. And yet it feels as if there are more great games, memorable games. And even if you want to put them in the order... of the weekend you'd be thinking well is Kerry Tyrone top maybe loud second and then you're deciding between two great games as Cork and Mayo was okay there was lulls in it at times but Again, Colby McDonald and just the way Mayo came and won it and Dublin Galway for all the talking points and just the manner of Dublin's win. And, you know, you're excited about a Dublin win again and they're coming so strong two weeks running.
You're thinking, well, it's amazing the way the wheel turns full circle too for Gerard Brennan. I just thought for him to walk down and shake hands with Porrick Joyce again. the manager of the Galway team that he effectively got suspended against in Salt Hill three months earlier having a week earlier walked down the same sideline and shook hands with Jim McGuinness who wasn't suspended for the similar incident and the symmetry in those two exchanges just another talking point to what's been a terrific season Philly the greatest championship we've seen since last year
since last year yeah no i think it's been once there's so many shocks and surprises it's going to be a good year you know um and it gives hope for the next couple of years particularly for other counties that are you know looking in going you know what what could possibly happen if we really get stuff together get things right um i think there's a there's a lot of teams looking at this year and kind of go the next couple of years we could have a real crack here like
yeah what was it like in there it was great it was really good and like I'm a bit of a sucker for the vibe around
